Your consideration of the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine may well prove to be a significant milestone in your life, directing you to travel a path that will touch many lives for the better. If you choose to traverse this path you will be following in the footsteps of the first physicians who sought to be partners with nature in the healing of mankind.
The physicians and healers of ancient times sought out those things provided by Nature that would strengthen that natural recuperative power born within each of us. Looking to plants, diet, heat, light and water they devised a system of health care that was as simple as the touch of a hand on an ailing body, and yet as complex as the phenomenon of life itself.
Today, as we enter the 21st century, more and more people are seeking just such a system of health care - a system based on the presept of Vis Medicatrix Naturae/Only Nature Heals, a system of health care respectful of, and one which works in concert with, Natural Law, a system of health care recognizing the synthesis of body, mind and spirit, and a system that embraces holism but yet is grounded in reductionist science, and practiced in an evidence-based environment. In short, it is a system known today as Naturopathic Medicine.
Todays Naturopathic Physician serves on the front line of health care as a Primary Care physician, practicing scientific medicine with emphasis on both natural therapies and a "hands on" approach to healing.
Increasingly recognized for its value to the health of the individual, and for its role in health promotion within the community, Naturopathic Medicine is a profession that deserves serious consideration by those who are seeking a way to serve their fellow man by entering a career in health care. Naturopathic Medicine truly offers a better way of life - to you, to your patients, and to the community.
The University of Bridgeport is committed to being the leader in integrative natural health education, and as a result of that commitment, the UBCNM offers its students unparalleled opportunities to learn in an atmosphere of multi-disciplinary, integrative care, co-ordinated to best meet the needs of patients seeking a more natural solution to their health concerns.
Tomorrow's health care model is fast becoming today's reality at the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine.
