Director,
INFORM's Sustainable Transportation Program
Background
on INFORM, Inc.
INFORM is a national not-for-profit environmental research and education
organization. It focuses on independent examination of business
practices, technologies and products that impact the environment,
workers and public health. It explores practical solutions for preventing
damaging impacts at their source. INFORM identifies steps that businesses
have taken -- and can take -- to steadily improve their environmental
performance. It assesses breakthrough technologies and products
that meet society's needs for goods and services in ways that may
meet the needs of an environmentally sustainable society.
INFORM's
research is widely used by government, business and environmental
leaders as they debate future environmental and health policies
and programs. INFORM findings enter the marketplace of ideas in
in-depth reports, articles, editorials, government testimony, seminars
and talks at business and government forums.
INFORM
staff conducts an extensive publicity and outreach agenda and INFORM
findings have had a significant impact on both public and private
sector programs over the last two decades in the United States and,
increasingly, abroad. INFORM has a staff of 15, including a distinguished
team of scientists and policy analysts. Its Board of Directors is
fully committed to its educational mission. The Board works cooperatively
with the President and the senior management to strengthen INFORM's
programs, improve its operations, insure its sound fiscal management,
and extend its influence. INFORM's work is supported by more than

Our
agenda: we address water quality problems and get meaningful results.
Community Water Watch is a statewide environmental program based

water pollution problems by organizing hands-on service projects
in the surrounding communities. By organizing the resources of college

Among the Campus Organizer's goals:

67,000 youth on the threat to our natural watersheds, involving
over 50,000 volunteers in the practices of cleaning up our local
environment.
Educate
students and train new leaders. Campus Organizers develop
educational programs to teach citizenship skills and inform the
campus community about important local and statewide water issues.
Campus Organizers also oversee internship programs, through which
students can earn academic course credit for program work and research.
Through these and other programs, Campus Organizers work to develop
a new generation of leaders for efforts to defend the environment.
Build

and highly visible campus chapters that are recognized by faculty
and student leaders as an asset to the campus community. Over the
course of a semester, Campus Organizers work with students on four
to six projects. Campus Organizers oversee up to thirty student
interns who receive course credit for their projects and hundreds
of student volunteers.
TRAINING
A key part of the Community Water Watch mission is to train leaders
who are capable of designing, fighting and winning local projects
to defend the environment. The State PIRGs provide an intensive,
two-week, paid training program for Community Water Watch Campus
Organizers. Training begins the first of August and includes classroom
training on skills and the organizing model we use on our campuses.
