Anybody who remembers the
original Rampage in arcade's in the 80's will have flashbacks when
they start up Rampage World Tour. If you've wanted to go back and
smash everything in your path one more time, now you can have your
chance at it again. Midway has decided to bring back a classic with
more levels, more mayhem, and more buildings to destroy.

Midway has decided to bring
back with a classic, and then update the graphics to the 1998
standards (but it only takes advantage of Direct X), an enormous
amount of different types of buildings, and three times as many
enemies and items you can destroy. Their is an unlimited amount of
continues, so their is no need to think with your brain, all you have
to do is let loose your sadistic and destructive side. While the
object is to destroy all of the ScumLabs in the world, it's just fun
to destroy anything and everything along the way. The three original
characters from Rampage are back, Ralph , the giant werewolf, Lizzy,
a Godzilla clone, and George, a King Kong look alike.
The gameplay has not been
tampered, and it's wildly enjoyable to play by yourself, or gather
two other friends and you can demolish as a group. It's rather simple
to pick, as you just kick, punch or jump on any object you want to
demolish. While playing in multiplayer, you can play cooperatively
and against each other at the same time, as you're competing to have
the most points for the level. You can attack each other if you want,
but it seemed more enjoyable just destroying the city as quickly as possible.
Rampage World Tour gives
you the chance to destroy over one hundred cities, but Midway has
also included 14 secret levels including Hell whjch you can access
throughout the world. While touring in the US, you must find world
flags by punching holes into certain buildings so you can travel to
certain parts of the world to decimate all of the ScumLabs located in
the World (hence the name instead of just Rampage 2).

A small snipe at Midway
should be thrown at them when playing the Rampage World Tour. If you
go to the ABOUT screen when you start up, it says a build date and
BETA in black letters. While Midway has assured me that this is the
final copy, this was the same for the copy we picked up at the store
just to make sure we weren't being lied to. While other companies
have put out obvious beta games, this really takes the cake of having
the word beta in the game.
To conclude, a
recommendation is in order for this game. While after about sixty
levels, the game does seem repetitive, the game is just packed with
action and it never stops unless you decide to take a potty break. |
