From This screen you access all the
powerful features of this system. It includes automatic one
step backup, backup reminders, various reports and sorting
features. powerful query features and an emergency recovery
button to restore your latest backup.

Data Entry
Screen
|
The data entry screen features
species lookup. You enter the Genus and it provides you with
a list of the known species IN
THAT GENUS ONLY! many of the
other fields have automatic indexes so you can quickly and
consistently enter location, state, county, body of water
data. The pictures are automatically displayed once they
have been added to the Picture database. Simply enter the
genus and species and Viola - You've got pictures. Add your
own pictures or purchase a set from UniverShell. This screen
also includes the shell ratung system. Answer a few
questions about this specimen and get a rating
[Good/Fine/Gem]. The numbering system allows you to
individually number each specimen, or treat them as lots.

The Linnean Information Detail
Screen

We have created a Linnean Information
database with a comprehensive listing of Unionidae,
Margaritiferidae and Corbiculidae species. This makes the
data entry Easy, consistent and very fast. We have also
included information such as Common Name. Federal status
[Endangered, Threatened, Extinct] so that all this
information can be automatically posted to your records for
each specie.

The Picture Zoom
Screen

The Zoom screen shows the pcitures at
a much higher magnification and enable you to review the
specimens in your collection with a pair of photos. We use a
photo of the shells exterior as phot one and the second is a
closeup of the hinge/umbo areas. This will be an invaluable
guide to the mussels in your collection.

The Linnean Listing
Database
|
Here is a screenshot of the Linnean
Information Screen. This incorporates a lot of informaton
that is automatically transfered to the Collection
databasewhen you enter the Genus and Species. Save a lot of
typing and keep your data entry consistent. This feature
keeps the queries consistent. You will find what you are
looking for - a very significant quality
safeguard.

The Picture Storage
Database
|
We choose to store the pictures for
this system in a separate database. This makes the
collection system much faster and allows us to automatically
display a picture when you enter the genus and species. A
real timesaver and a quick way to caltalog all your pictures
- or use ours!

The Specimen Label
Report
|
The System will print over 10
different reports, including specimen labels and tray/box
inventories. A perfect way to keep track of your specimens.
We even include printouts to help you keep track of needed
photography or web publishing requirements. You can search
this database on any single field or any MULTIPLE set of
fields. Think about finding all your shells from a single
lake, single state, only the Eastern US, from a single
Family or genera. Power in the hands of the user.
