Welcome to the Periodic Table of Haiku
28 Feb, 2001: Congratulations everyone! We filled the Periodic Table of Haiku! What's next, you ask? Well, I'm not going to let the cat out of the bag yet, but there will definitely be an encore performance in the next two weeks. Keep your eyes peeled for the next juxtaposition of science and haiku!

What is the Periodic Table of Haiku?
The Periodic Table of Haiku began as way for me, Ron Sparks, to intoduce myself to the members of the SciFaiKu Mailing List members. A veteran member, by moniker 'gK', had stumbled upon a sited called the Periodic Table of Poetry. Unfortunately, most of the elements were already written to on that site.

So, on January 29, 2001 I introduced the table to the members of the List. By Feburary 21, 2001 the list was complete! I was amazed and gratified at not only the overwhelming response, but also the high-quality haiku that were submitted. The Table of Haiku quickly grew beyond the SciFaiKu mailing list and well respected amatuer and published authors from across the country joined in and added a haiku or two.

Take a moment and enjoy the poems for each element. If you really like the poems, email the authors and tell them so!

How to use the Periodic Table of Haiku
Move your mouse over any element in the table to learn more about it. The Haiku field will have either a 'Y' or an 'N' to indicate if that element has a haiku associated with it. Click on the element to open a pop-up window and read the haiku.

For ease of use, a "flattened" table of all elements is below the periodic Table. You can click on an element name there to view the haiku associated with it there as well. Additionally, there is a link for browsers that do not support javascript for the pop-up window.
