The beloved sailor duck comes to the N64 using one of the better game engines for the platform. |

Appearing for the first time in 3D, Donald Duck: Quack Attack, based on one of most popular Walt Disney characters of all time, is set to hit the shelves in fall 2000. In Quack Attack, players will guide Donald through four large worlds and 24 levels. Ubi Soft is really trying to stay true to the feel of the Disney cartoons. Like the cartoons, Donald Duck will begin each level thinking that everything will go his way, only to find that he is wrong. He will be able to display moods varying from determination and frustration to agitation and exhaustion. Each mood will bring an element of surprise to the gamer.
Donald expresses these emotions as a result of his current health. If he gets nailed too many times, he'll start to get a really annoyed look on his face, and the feathers will start flying. At least we won't have to worry about his losing his pants -- he doesn't have any to begin with.
In the game, everyone's favorite female duck, Daisy, is a world famous photographer and reporter on assignment to take pictures of Merlock's Imaginary Kingdom. Of course, Merlock, the evil magician, has other plans. He takes Daisy prisoner, and thus the adventure begins. Besides the objective of rescuing his sweetheart, Donald Duck is also racing against time to beat his cousin Gladstone, who has his own rescue plans.
This game plays much like the popular Ubi Soft title, Rayman 2: The Great Escape (it reportedly uses the same engine), and it has the graphics to capture a character as multidimensional as Donald Duck. The main concentration from Ubi Soft was to make the character in the game come across as the same character that most of us spent countless Saturday afternoons laughing at. Considering some of the other cartoon-video game failures we have seen recently, we think they did a good job at bringing Donald to life. Long live the duck!

Fans of Rayman 2 will see some similarities here, but with a half-naked duck. |
The lighting effects and pretty textures will make this a hit with kiddies and adults alike. |
Donald's adventures will take him through several different environments. |
