Laraine NewmanLaraine Newman

Born March 2, 1952 in Los Angeles, CA.

At one time Laraine was a student of mime artist Marcel Marceau though like her fellow SNL'ers she spent time learning the more freeing and much more conversational world of improv. In 1972, she joined the Groundlings improvisational troupe (familiar stomping grounds for fellow comic talents Phil Hartman, Paul "Pee-wee Herman" Reubens and Lisa Kudrow).

Her exposure to The Groundlings had her make her film debut (along with several fellow improvers) in the 1975 pastiche Tunnelvision. She also worked as an ensemble player on the 1975 summer-replacement TV variety series Manhattan Transfer before becoming a Not-Ready-For-Prime-Time-Player. Although considered the shy one of the three females she did contribute some memorable moments, from Connie Conehead to the forgetful reporter who constantly screwed up her assignments on Weekend Update.

After SNL Laraine continued acting, playing a supporting role in Woody Allen's Stardust Memories, and was featured in such films as Wholly Moses and Yellowbeard.

Ever conscious about her looks she had a little nose surgery done to revamp her look. This new Laraine was first unveiled in the 1985 John Travolta-Jamie Lee Curtis starrer Perfect. She continues to keep busy both as an actress (Flintstones, Jingle All The Way, Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas) and an even more lucrative voice work career.
