Youngest in the Mitchell clan, Sam could wrap her mum round her little finger, and though she was only ten when her dad died, she never wanted for fatherly advice, albeit of the heavy-handed variety from Phil and Grant. She would always make sure she got her own way, even if this meant eloping to Gretna Green to marry boyfriend Ricky, something she repented at leisure afterwards. She was quickly bored of East End married life, and went off to pursue her ‘modelling’ career - something which involved being photographed topless, going off to Spain with a man she hardly knew, and ending up working in a dodgy nightclub.
When she was rescued from Spain and brought home to Albert Square she was soon up to her old tricks again. Falling for Grant’s old love rival, Beppe, wasn’t a popular move, and sleeping with Steve Owen was the final straw - Sam realised that she had run out of chances again and left Walford.
