JRockit 2.1 Virtual Machine released at JavaOne

Appeal Virtual Machines today released JRockit(tm) 2.1 premium Virtual Machine for Java(r) at JavaOne. JRockit adds manageability and multiprocessor scalability to stability and code performance.

San Francisco 2001-06-03. Appeal Virtual Machines, the Swedish Software Company dedicated to developing and marketing better Virtual Machines for Java, today released JRockit 2.1 at the JavaOne conference and exhibition. The JRockit architects are available in the Appeal Virtual Machines booth #622 at the conference. A fully functional trial license can be downloaded from http://www.jrockit.com.

The 2.1 version of JRockit includes the architecture for monitoring and managing the VM as well as radically improved multiprocessor support with the latest advancements in thread and memory management. JRockit is optimized for heavily loaded server sites, typically equipped with multiprocessor systems.

"The goal for 2.1 was to introduce the ability to monitor and manage the performance and stability characteristics of the VM, and to fully exploit the potential of multi-processor machines. Our ambition is to offer Java without bottlenecks to major Web sites and intranets, and the reluease of 2.1 is a major step in this direction", said Joakim Dahlstedt, President and CTO, Appeal Virtual Machines.

JRockit has evolved significantly from version 1.1, announced at JavaOne 2000. Solaris is supported in addition to Linux and Windows 2000. Multiprocessors are fully supported and multi user scalability has improved from an already leading position. I/O performance is world class, the system offers non-disruptive garbage collection, and the dynamic optimization of code and memory usage has been improved.

JRockit 2.1 can be installed directly on a server, or be integrated with applications by ISVs, OEMs and System Integrators. It works as an insurance policy against bottlenecks in Java execution, while strictly adhering to the Java specification.
