Originally patented Jan. 19, 1869 by Samuel Ebenezer Leach (and Elder) in Bangor, ME. It is fairly common but uses the unique and recognizable design of a compound lever and was manufactured under license by several makers. The sets that Leach himself manufactured usually show the Leach name in gold paint on each side or the set.

Model #10 Web Saw Set made by Shurly-Dietrich- Atkins of Galt, Canada with a Branch Factory in Vancouver, B.C. Founded in 1873 as Shurly-Dietrich with 9 skilled saw makers brought in from Rochester and from Sheffield, England. In 1930 with the purchase of the Canadian assets of E.C. Atkins they
became Shurly-Dietrich-Atkins. 
In 1969 the firm was purchased by H.K. Porter and in 1973 ceased doing business in 1973 after 100 years of manufacturing.

Sold as a saw set for web saws, buck saws, hand saws, etc. it uses the unique and recognizable design of a compound lever saw set patented in the U.S. by Samuel Leach (and Elder) on January 19, 1869, in Bangor, ME. Patent Number 85,941.00 .
