EMLL
Felino/Mascara Magica/Tony Rivera vs. Fuerza Guerrera/Dr. X/Rencor
Latino(From Arena Coliseo)
Primera Caida- Most of the focus in this fall
was on the rudos abusing Tony Rivera, who recieved "Tony" chants upon entering
the ring. The tecnicos do not get much offense in, and spend most of
the fall being beaten up. Rencor pins Rivera with an awesome powerbomb
and Fuerza does the "punt" to Mascara Magica and then uses a boston crabto
put him away.
Segunda Caida- The announcers seem to like calling Felino"Felinine"
though I have no idea why. The rudos retain control early in thematch although
they fought fairly, before Felino got an offensve flurry anddid a bunch of
armdrags to everyone. He places Dr. X on the top ropeand hits a cool
splash mountain while Magica rolls up Rencor and the tecnicoswin the fall.
Tercera Caida- The tecnicos now exact revenge
upon the rudos, brawling around the ringside area. The highlight of thisis
Magica DDTing Dr X right on his head on the hard Coliseo entranceway.
They now start to work a standard match, with Magica showing off some really
good armdrags on Rencor Latino and Dr X. Rivera, who usually hits a bunch
of spectacular moves in this situation, seems content to simply do chopsand
quebradora... eh. Felino and Fuerza go to the floor, and the fourother
wrestlers remain in the ring. Magica does a facebuster to therudos
who were going for a double backdrop, then Rivera gets a boost anddropkicks
them to the floor. Magica and Rivera then dive onto them with twogood topes!!
The captains have the ring to themselves now. Fuerza catchesFelino on the
top rope and hits a big armdrag for a two count. He tries aquebradora, Felino
flips out, ducks a clothesline, goes behind into a wasitlockand hits a German
Suplex for the three count win! [full point] A good matchfor TV, this was.
The younger luchadors got on TV and in reasonably uneditedform, and put out
a nice match to open the show.
Los Capos talk about how Perro is a cheater because he won Cien's
hair at the PPV with a foul(low blow) and also Mascara Ano 2000's mask with
that move, and that now he is after Universo's mask and will probably try
the same thing.
Tarzan Boy, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas vs. Universo 2000, Mascara
Ano 2000, Cien Caras(from Arena Mexico)- Well I'm not even
going to bother going in depth with this one because if you have been following
the reports or the shows at home you will know that Tarzan Boy is turning
rudo and as a result screws his partners up in the deciding fall so thatthey
lose the match. Why that turn hasn't happened yet(On TV) is completelybeyond
me. The Dinimita won in straight falls. [0]
Momentos Estelares
Fabuloso- Sombra de Plata hits a 180 missile dropkick! Nice!
Move- Alan Stone hits a MONSTER top rope asai moonsault to the
floor, which would have been perfect except Sombra de Plata basically moved
out of the way in catching it.
Spectacular- Ricky Marvin hits his springboard tornillo on DrX!
Rudo- Dr X fouls Mascara Magica
Sensational- Some guy who looks EXACTLY like Black Warrior except
in neon yellow and black hits a big splash off the top rope on Ringo Mendoza.
Main Event: Black Warrior, Dr. Wagner Jr, Blue Panther vs.Villanos
III, IV, and V(For the Trios Titles)
Primera Caida- Here we go! 30 minutes of non-stop
action for the trios titles! Surely Galavision holds title matches in high
enough respect not to clip them, right? Oh, stupid question. The first fall
is edited near the finish, since we have to get to that threshhold of 30minutes
of commercial time per 1 and 1/2 hours.
Villano III is in the ring with Blue Panther, and busts out abunch
of moves I thought he would never do, like Hijo del Santo's kip upheadscissors
and a bodyscissors armdrag takedown. Warrior tags in to keephim from diving
but his tope is likewise interrupted by V4. Black managesto hit a victory
roll, but hits it near the Villanos corner, so V5 jumpsin with a flying sunset
flip breaking the pin and getting the three count.Villano III rolls up Blue
Panther with an over the top victory roll to finishthe fall.
Segunda Caida- Joined in progress I would
guess, as Black Warrior breaks a V4 octopus attempt on Dr Wagner by
clipping his knee! The rudos then start going exclusively after it and he
has to roll out of the ring to avoid their punishment. Villano 5 gets
slammed by Panther, then Wagner and Warrior both hit flying splashes
to pin him. VIII is forced to quit to a Blue Panther armbar.
Tercera Caida- The Laguneros go right back to working on 4's
knee, finally destroying it with a Wagner dropkick and Black Warrior high
angle ankle lock(ouch!). What follows is quite interesting, as I guess they
feel they haven't done a good enough job, so they start stomping down the
other two Villanos who are trying to hold them back from attacking it. The
medics have to take him to the back of the arena, but have a trip doing it,
as Wagner ends up attacking the guy with the stretcher and stealing it! Finally
the doctors are able to get him out of there, so we go back to the match,
though not without exciting backstage footage of the doctors unlacing his
boots and unbuckling his knee braces. Back to the match, Villano III
backdrops Panther over the ropes onto Dr Wagner, taking them both out ofthe
match for the time being. Black Warrior is left alone, but first getsto hit
a spinwheel kick to VIII. Villano V replaces him, and givesWarrior
'la segadora', powerbombs him on the rebound, and then uses the octopushold
to make him submit. So now the match is two on two. Villano IIIgets
a few nearfalls on Wagner with sunset flip varaitions, then triesa
reverse cradle and has it blocked for a close two count. Wagner dropkicks
him so that he rolls out to the floor and sooner that you can blink BluePanther
takes off doing a tope suicida to send him into the seats! Wagnerand Villano
V are left to finish the match now. V-5 gets on the octopus hold, but can
quite secure the leg over the neck part, so Wagner, in oneof the cooler
counters this year, scoops him up and sideslams him to breakthe move. He
then gets him up, WAGNER DRIVER! 1, 2... kickout!! Of course,Wagner is still
fresh while 4 is now barely "concious" so he scoops him upand gives him a
second Wagner Driver for the 3 count!!! [full point] WhenI first watched
this I was pissed about the editing of the first fall butupon second time
I really liked it a lot and it didn't seem to manner asmuch. This was a really
well worked match with some excellent lucha "ringpsychology", such as Wagner
being fresh for the entire match so that he couldcompletely destroy a weakened
Villano 5 with two Wagner Drivers. The thingis though, Villano 4's knee injury
was legit so I'm sure they improvisedthe third fall, but it came out really
nice. I'd give the match ***1/2, andif we had seen the first fall, I don't
doubt it would have gotten even higher.
AAA
AAA was not a new show today really, as they only showed one new
match and it was highlights of the Spice Boys(in their 5th soon to be failed
incarnation) vs. Vatos Locos. The rest of the show made little sense to me,
as they aired edited stuff from all over the place: Last week's Mini Titles
switch, the final of the Reina de Reinas, Aguila and Taka in TJ, etc. Atleast
the closing of the show was cool, as they re-aired the Monterray matchbetween
Hector Garza, Latin Lover vs. Hijo de Perro, Hevay Metal which wasreally
good and had nuclear heat. Here's my old review on that match:
Heavy Metal & Hijo del Perro Aguayo v. Hector Garza and Latin Lover
- You had to hear the crowd before the match, during the introductions. I
swear if you were in the front row of that crowd, you would have gone deaf
from all the women shrieking. The bell doesn't get to ring, as Perrito goes
after Garza in the aisleway even before Heavy Metal enters the ringside area.
Perro and Latin Lover, and Garza and Heavy Metal, both go after each other
brawling with chops, chairs and such. The rudos Perrito and Metal are clearly
the aggresors early in the match, whacking Latin Lover with their signature
moves and slamming a piece of metal on his head from the top rope. Loverdoes
a bladejob, and fights off a few pin attempts. Before he can even tagin Garza,
the rudos jump his partner on the apron, however this backfireson them, as
a cross-corner whip from both sides has Latin Lover leapfrogGarza, and superkick
Perrito, as Garza dropkicks Metal. Now the tecnicosare in control, and the
crowd goes crazy. Lover toeholds Perrito on the metalsheet, then gives him
a huge powerbomb, and follows with an additional assaultwith the chair, to
bust him open. By now Lover's cut has almost become agash, leaving his forehead
particularly red. Hevay Metal takes himdown and tries to open the cut
further in the corner, which Garza leaps overwith a missile dropkick, nailing
Perrito. He then tries a suprise sunsetflip rollup, but Perrito sees it coming,
and fights him off. Metal holdsGarza for Hijo de Perro's signature clothesline,
but Garza ducks the move, and Heavy goes to the floor. Perrito tries then
to send him to the ropes, but Garza ducks another clothesline, and dives out
onto Metal with a topesuicida. Perro then follows with his own, and Latin
lover finishes the sequencewith a rarely seen(from him) dive, a plancha!
All four guys are clearly tired, but Latin Lover and Hijo de Perro are able
to beat the count, and and hita stereo clothesline, and then a subsequent
double nearfall. Both guys tumbleto the floor, as Garza and Metal perpare
to go 1 v. 1. Garza sends him tothe ropes, but Metal segadoras out of the
ring Fuerza Guerrera style, towhere he had placed the steel sheet. However,
his father and longtime tecnicoreferee, Pepe Casas, takes the weapon away
from him, also sparking the heelref to brawl. So all four combatnants and
the refs brawl outside, to an eventualdouble countout by run-in ref Hijo
de Tirantes. Not a great workrate match, nor was the finish satisfying, but
the crowd was super-into it. I mean, nohair was on the line here, yet the
crowd was reacting as if the it was onthe line. AAA has it's hottest fued
here since the wildest days of Vipersv. Vatos, so expect this to go on until
Verano de Escandalo, where the samematch is schedueled to take place.
Overall- I'll save comment on AAA this week since I really have
no clue what they were doing. EMLL I liked the first match and really liked
the main event so it gets a thumbs up from me.
