PGE PARK TO HOST 2001 HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL SERIES
Trib Football Fridays presented by U.S. Bank will feature key area match-ups

Portland, Ore. – Portland Family Entertainment released the schedule today for the 2001 High School Football season at PGE Park.  The Trib Football Fridays presented by U.S. Bank consist of nine consecutive weeks of Friday night double headers.  The opening game will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the feature game at 8:00 p.m.

“We are looking forward to the high school football series at the newly renovated PGE Park,” said Gresham high school’s Athletic Director, Larry Knudsen.  “It is an excellent schedule, and playing at the new facility will be a great opportunity for all participating teams.”

The series will begin on September 7, 2001 and will conclude on November 2, 2001 with the Portland Interscholastic League (PIL) playoffs and City Championship game.  All feature games will be broadcast live by AT&T Broadband.

"High school football is a key part of PGE Park's multi-purpose event mix,” said Marshall Glickman, General Partner and CEO for PFE.  “Thanks to the Tribune and U.S. Bank, we will be able to feature a number of big rivalry games from throughout the region, in addition to PIL and Central Catholic games.  And, we are thrilled that all of the rivalry games will be televised live by AT&T Broadband."

Tickets go on sale Friday, August 17, 2001 and may be purchased at the PGE Park box office, through the participating high schools, at Ticketmaster outlets or online at www.ticketmaster.com.   Season tickets are available through Portland Family Entertainment, and single game tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for students with a student body card and $7 for premier seating.  All high school football tickets double as a free Tri-Met day pass (on event days only).

“PGE Park is a premier facility for football – from the locker rooms to the NeXturf, it’s first class,” said Central Catholic’s head coach, Joe Bushman.  “The team is really looking forward to September 14th when we take on Tigard.”
