The New Party is a independent, progressive political party working through elections and legislative campaigns to advance the work of of trade unions, community organizations, and environmental and women's groups. The New Party runs grassroots campaigns to elect progressive candidates and fights for living wage jobs, better schools, police accountability, and campaign finance reform. By combining a practical electoral strategy with an unapologetic focus on issues of economic justice, democratic political reform, environmental and community protection, and investment in education and children, the New Party has won more than 200 of its 300 races for school board, city council, county board, and state legislative seats.
The New Party is hiring full-time organizers to help build political power for our members, especially in working-class and minority communities. Applicants with organizing experience are preferred. Organizers build citywide or regional New Party chapters by recruiting, training, and mobilizing volunteer membership to win campaigns; develop volunteerleadership; deepen the involvement of our institutional allies; and plan and organize political campaigns.
Job responsibilities include:
· Recruiting new members and building an active volunteer base through personal visits, phone banks, and house parties;
· Working with community groups and labor unions to deepen their involvement in the local New Party chapter's campaigns;
· Directing doorknocking drives, mailings, phone banks, and fundraisers on behalf of the New Party's candidates and issue campaigns;
· Planning and implementing campaign strategies with chapter leadership;
· Maintaining administrative systems and records on organizing and campaign activities;
· Reporting regularly to the Lead Organizer and the National Field Staff.
Salary/benefits: Dependent upon experience. Health benefits are provided.
Location: Positions are available in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Chicago, Maryland/DC, and Little Rock, . Other possible openings include Missoula and Portland, OR. Applicants are asked to be geographically flexible.
Qualifications: Applicants with organizing experience are preferred. Applicants especially need an ability to recruit and motivate diverse groups of people; a demonstrated commitment to economic and social justice; accountability to goals; willingness to learn new skills and ideas; willingness to be self-motivated and self-critical; willingness to work hard.

The New Party has elected more than 200 people to local school boards, city councils, county boards, and state legislatures, and have worked with those officials to pass living wage laws, increase funding for affordable housing, control urban sprawl, improve schools in poor neighborhoods, and limit the influence of big money.
The New Party is searching for a new Executive Director to lead the party into the 21st Century. With close to 20,000 members and a growing staff (now 25), the organization is poised to elect progressive majorities in cities across the country and aggressively promote a progressive program.
Duties: Major donor fundraising, management of direct mail and phone program, grant writing, overall administration of the organization including financial and personnel management, organizational outreach, strategic planning.
Qualifications: Energetic individual with proven fundraising and organizational management experience. Must understand grassroots organizing.
