AIRBUS INCIDENT IN AZORES ISLANDS

Last week, a Canadian pilot managed to perform an emergency landing of an Airbus A330-200, of the Canadian airline Air Transat, transporting 306 passengers, after the aircraft lost its two engines. He glided the plane for 18 minutes, avoiding a sea landing and at nearly twice the normal landing speed, brought the aircraft to a standstill on the runway, in a miracle end to what seemed like a certain nightmare. 18 passengers were treated for light injuries and were later released.

After careful examination of the incident. Airbus has issued a statement to all airlines using this type of aircraft that this was the first incident involving this family of planes. It further informed that the right engine of the plane had been substituted on 19th August at Mirabel airport, Montreal, because the previous engine had had two minute metal splinters inside it.

However, both engines stopped and the fuel injection system is being blamed. The pilot stated that such incidents were not supposed to happen on trans-Atlantic flights but that he and his crew were trained for such events.
