USA AND GAYS OF BELARUS AGAINST LUKASHENKO. ONE DAY LEFT BEFORE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS

The capital of Belarus, Minsk has been shocked. It became the city to hold the gay pride parade - for the first time in the Commonwealth of Independent States. A day before the elections the gay people who presumably support Lukashenko’s opponent, former Communist party member (the president of the Trade Union Federation currently) Vladimir Goncharik marched along the streets of the Belarus capital having appealed upon everyone to vote for their candidate. How come a trade union figure, former communist party member has now gays supporting him? Anyway, this bizarre event does not add more popularity to Goncharik. If not saying it on the contrary.

The Belarussian laws are much more loyal than the Russian laws when it comes to pre-election agitation - they do not ban the agitation on the eve of the voting. In this connection there will be a series of pre-election actions taking place in Minsk today, including street music shows and the like. The candidates running for presidency are going to meet their electors in the streets too. To put it short – this Saturday is going to be totally filled with exciting spirit of tomorrow’s elections.

Anyway, the major pre-electing event has already taken place – the gay pride parade. It is also surprising why the Russian PR people have not used this arrangement yet. What can come easier than muscular guys in underwear standing in front of the premises of the regional administration holding posters and yelling “Count on us!”. It is such an easy thing to use to make a half of electorate change their mind about their candidacy.

Anyway, Belarus has its own morals and manners. President Alexander Lukashenko declared he was not going to run any pre-election campaign – his business was to fulfil the presidential obligations. And he remains the most popular politician of the country.

His opponents are running their own rather active campaigns, but they would not help. Lukashenko is strongly supported by the administrative resource – it is true. He does not give any pre-election promises, he does not arrange any shows either. But he tours the country, meets the workers, peasants, businessmen and the media inform about it. Lukashenko has the considerable part of propaganda resources of the country behind him, indeed.

However Lukashenko’s adversaries also have significant support – the USA for example. This country seriously believes that the allied Russia is one of their enemies. This large-scale interference of the US in the policy of the sovereign state can not help raising concern. The scenario of the Belarussian elections is already being called the one like in Yugoslavia, although there is an opinion the US administration is acting according to the schedule which was earlier used in Nicaragua.

In this light Lukashenko’s actions do not only look like they are the REAL executor of presidential obligations – it is also the issue of serious care for country’s security. Lukashenko is actually withstanding the western intrusion into the internal policy.

PRAVDA.Ru has already informed about the money transferred by the US Department of State to Lukashenko’s opponents, we wrote about the commotion caused in the West around the so-called death squads which had not been proved by the way. In this propaganda Lukashenko was represented as a hard-line communist, the last mammoth of the outgoing era, almost Stalin’s successor. However, his opponent was pictured as the real democrat.

Despite all that one may state now that the Western plan to “regulate” Belarus has failed. Lukashenko is the only real candidate for the position of the President and his adversaries do not have the necessary level of popularity among the people. Mr.Lukashenko’s victory tomorrow is very likely to happen which would mean a lot. If he wins then it would imply the Unified State between Russia and Belarus will nor collapse, Russia will not find itself in the so-called “alienation zone” which is the objective of the West. Finally the USA will get a good hit in the nose – the superpower on the planet is turning to the empire of evil internationally and Lukashenko’s victory at tomorrow’s elections would show it its place.

There is one day left. Let’s wait till Monday.

P.S.: When the material was being prepared for publishing:

A big scandal is gathering pace around Vladimir Goncharik – a candidacy for the position of Belarus’ President, Interfax news agency informed. Alexander Kotlyarov – the chairman of Vladimir Goncharik’s local election headquarters of the town of Slutsk was arrested yesterday. As the law-enforcement bodies of Belarus advised, the reason for that arrest was Kotlyarov’s state of alcoholic intoxication and “the adequate behavior” due to that state. The law-enforcement officers also examined Kotlyarov’s case and found posters, calendars and other agitation material in Goncharik’s support. But officers paid special attention to the lists of the paid cash, the documents were in the Belarussian and English languages and they testified to Kotlyarov’s payments to several citizens of Belarus for distributing the agitation material and opposition press.

The lists and tables on them contained the names of the real people with their signatures, indicated the works done by them and the amount of money they were paid. Being in the state of alcohol intoxication Kotlyarov was actively testifying about that activity of his. The evidence was taped and registered in the form of minutes signed by Kotlyarov himself.

Lidiya Yermoshina – the head of the Central Electoral Committee of Belarus stressed commenting on the incident that the election campaign in Belarus could be performed only at the expense of special budget appropriations, according to the functioning legislation. “No extra-budget funds can be used for those purposes”, - claimed she. The head of the Central Electoral Committee also added that the incident with Kotlyarov’s arrest could be the ground to cancel the certificate registering Vladimir Goncharik as a candidate. However, she continued that decision was not supposed to be made since there was only one day left before the elections. “The people will have to decide who is going to be their President”, - said she.
