BORDER HELICOPTER FIRED AT AT CHECHEN SECTION OF RUSSIAN-GEORGIAN BORDER

A border guard helicopter has been fired at at the Chechen section of Russian-Georgian border. The press service of the North-Caucasian regional border office said that Monday night a missile was shoot at the helicopter. Fortunately, it missed. The shot was allegedly carried out from a portable surface-to-air missile system.
An intelligence search operation has been conducted at the area where the fire originated from early Tuesday morning.
A day earlier a border helicopter Mi-8 made a forced emergency landing in the area supervised by the Itum-Kalinsky unit. According to the press service, the helicopter got caught in a turbulent airflow, and, to avoid crashing, the pilot decided to land the craft. No one onboard the helicopter was injured.
