ABC Surveys Americans About Perceptions of Blood Safety, Blood Shortages and Fear of Mad Cow Disease
WASHINGTON, June 27, 2001 - While a majority of Americans are confident in the safety of the U.S. blood supply, four out of five people (82%) feel that a blood shortage is a serious threat to the national blood supply, and therefore, to patients who need blood. This is in sharp contrast to the 32% of Americans who feel that mad cow disease is a threat to the national blood supply, according to a new poll conducted for America's Blood Centers. More...
