GAUGE: 5 dc to 1" and 5 rows to 2" over dc worked on No. D crochet hook

MATERIALS:
5 balls Coats & Clark O.N.T. "Speed-Cro-Sheen" in main color, (A)
1 ball of contrast color, (B)
1 No. D crochet hook
2 hooks and eyes

___BIKINI TOP: Using No. D hook and A, ch 5. Join with a sl st to first ch to form circle.

___1st round: Ch 2, into same place as sl st work 2 dc leaving last loop of each st on hook, yo hook and draw through all 3 loops, *ch 3, into next ch work 3 dc leaving last loop of each st on hook, yo hook and draw through all 4 loops on hook (called gr), rep from * 3 times more, ch 3. Join with a sl st to 2nd of first ch 2, 5 gr equals 20 sts.

___2nd round: Ch 2, 1 dc into same place as sl st, * 1 dc into first ch, 2 dc into 2nd ch, 1 dc into 3rd ch, 2 dc into top of gr, rep from * 3 times more, 1 dc into first ch, 2 dc into 2nd ch, 1 dc into 3rd ch. Join with a sl st to 2nd of first ch 2. 30 sts.

___3rd round: Ch 2, 1 dc into same place, *1 dc into each of next 5 sts, 2 dc into next st, rep from * 3 times more, 1 dc into each of next 5 sts. Join with a sl st to 2nd of first ch 2. 35 sts.

___4th round: Ch 2, 1 dc into same place, *1 dc into each of next 6 sts, 2 dc into next st, rep from * 3 times more, 1 dc into each of next 6 sts. Join with a sl st to 2nd of first ch 2. 40 sts.

___5th round: Ch 2, gr into same place as sl st, *ch 1, skip one st, (gr, ch 1, gr) into next st, (ch 1, skip one st, gr into next st) 3 times, rep from * 3 times more, ch 1, skip one st, (gr, ch 1, gr) into next st, (ch 1, skip one st, gr into next st) twice, ch 1. Join with a sl st to 2nd of first ch 2. 25 gr equals 50 sts.

___6th round: Ch 2, 1 dc into same place, *1 dc into each of next 9 sts, 2 dc into next st, rep from * 3 times more, 1 dc into each of next 9 sts. Join with a sl st to 2nd of first ch 2, 55 sts.

___7th round: As 6th but working 10 dc between each inc. 60 sts.

___8th round: As 6th but working 11 dc between each inc. 65 sts. Fasten off.

Work second cup in same manner. Place cups tog with RS facing each other, attach yarn and work 8 sc, working through both cups to join them. Fasten off.

___LEFT SIDE SECTION: Using No, D hook and with RS of work facing, skip 19 sts round lower edge of left cup, attach yarn, ch 3 to count as first dc, work 1 dc into each of next 3 sts, 1 hdc into each of next 4 sts, 1 sc into each of next 4 sts, turn, 12 sts.

___2nd row: Ch 1 to count as first sc, work 2 sc, 2 hdc, 4 dc, work next 2 dc tog, turn, 11 sts.

___3rd row: Ch 3, work 2 dc, 3 hdc, 5 sc. Turn.

___4th row: Ch 4, work 8 dc, 2 dc tog, turn. 10 sts. Dec one dc at end of next 2 rows, 8 sts. Cont without shaping on these 8 sts for 8-1/2". Fasten off.

___RIGHT SIDE SECTION: Using No. D hook and with RS of work facing, count 31 sts around lower edge of cup from join, attach yam, ch 1, work 1 sc into each of next 3 sts, 1 hdc into each of next 4 sts, 1 dc into each of next 4 sts, turn, leaving 19 sts between this section and the joining. Complete to correspond to left side section, reversing shaping.

___STRAPS (make 2): Using No. D hook and A, ch 13.

___1st row: Into 3rd ch from hook work 1 dc, work 1 dc into each ch to end. Turn. 11 sts. Cont in dc, dec one st at end of every row until 6 dc rem. Cont without shaping until strap measures 14-1/2" from beg, or desired length. Fasten off.

___FINISHING: Press each piece under a damp cloth with a warm iron. Using No. D hook, A and with RS of work facing, work a row of sc around outer edges of both cups. Top edging With RS of work facing, attach B, work 1 sc into next st, *ch 3, sl st into first ch to form picot, skip one st, work 1 sc into each of next 2 sts, rep from * to end. Fasten off. Sew wide part of straps to front and other end to back. Sew on 2 hooks and eyes to back to fasten. Press seams.

___SHORTS FRONT: Using No. D hook and A, ch 20.

___1st row: Into 3rd ch from hook work 1 dc, 1 dc into each ch to end. Turn. 18 sts. Cont in dc, dec one st at each end of 2nd and 5th rows. 14 sts. Work 4 rows without shaping. Inc one st at each end of next and following 5 rows. 26 sts.

___Next row: Ch 3, 1 tr into first of these 3 ch, work in dc to last 2 sts, 2 dc into each of last 2 sts. Turn. 30 sts. Rep last row twice more. 38 sts. Using separate length of yarn ch 30. Break off and leave to work later.

___Next row: Ch 32, into 3rd ch from hook work 1 dc, 1 dc into each of next ch 28, patt to end, then patt across separate 30 ch. Turn. 98 sts. Work 8 rows in dc without shaping.

___**Next row: Ch 3, *skip one st, gr in next st, ch 1, rep from * ending with 1 dc into turning ch. Turn.

___Next row: Ch 3, work 1 dc into each gr and ch sp to end. Fasten off.**

___SHORTS BACK: Using No. D hook and A, ch 20. Work 1st row as given for shorts front. 18 sts. Inc one st at each end of next row. 20 sts. Inc 2 sts at each end of every row, as given for shorts front, until there are 76 sts. Using a separate length of yarn, ch 5. Break off and leave to work later.

___Next row: Ch 7, into 3rd ch from hook work 1 dc, 1 dc into each of next 3 ch, patt to end, then patt across separate 5 ch. Turn. 86 sts. Using a separate length of yarn, ch 6. Break off and leave to work later.

___Next row: Ch 8, into 3rd ch from hook work 1 dc, 1 dc into each of next 4 ch, patt to end, then patt across separate 6 ch. Turn. 98 sts. Work 8 rows in dc without shaping. Work as given for shorts front from ** to **.

___FINISHING: Press as given for bikini top. Join side and gusset seams. Using No. D hook, A and with RS of work facing, work a row of sc around top edge. Break off A and attach B. Work picot row as given for top edge of bikini top. Fasten off. Using A, work 2 rows of sc around each leg. Fasten off. Press seams. Using B, make a single ch 54" long and thread through last row of dc at waist edge, to tie in front.
