The Madison (WI) Community Orchestra, directed by Blake Walter, is wholly supported by Madison Area Technical College (MATC).
The orchestra is comprised of about 65 amateur musicians of varying ages and ability levels from Madison and the surrounding area.The orchestra, founded in 1965, performs four concerts a year and participates in community outreach projects such as food drives and children's concerts.
The next concert is at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 11, at Mitby Theater, Madison Area Technical College Truax campus.

During the school year, the orchestra rehearses at 7:15 p.m. Tuesdays in room 240 of the MATC Downtown Center.
The ensemble also has a four-week summer session, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays in room 040, dedicated to reading great standard orchestral works. All instrumentalists are invited. Dates for summer 2000 are July 18 and 25 and August 1 and 8.
