Project Aim
This started out as an experiment to see what components would be needed to develop something along the lines of the NeXT File Viewer. I began by hacking WPrefs.app, then the WINGs library to get some code. So I guess I've hacked together something the resembles a File System Viewer or FSViewer.
The current aims of the project (in no particular order) are as follows:

  • Icon and List views.
  • Complete Preferences Window
  • Fully Functionaly Inspector
  • Internationalisation
  • PGP Encryption support.
  • Multiple File Selection.
  • And lots more...

Documentation
Docs describing the program are now available. English and French versions are available.

Drag and Drop
The DND used by the app is based on OffiX DND. This library has been "ported" to WINGs by Igor Roboul, igorr@crosswinds.net.

Downloads
The sources are available via http from Skynet. The latest version is v0.2.2. RPMs are not yet available. The icons associated with FSViewer are also availabe there. These should be untarred and placed in the directory named by the ICONDIR which can be set in ~/GNUstep/Defaults/FSViewer.

License
The main body of software is covered by the GNU General Public License, more information is available at GNU. The icons designed and created by Marco van Hylckama Vlieg, fatal@global.uibk.ac.at, are licensed through the Open Content License. The included regexp library has its own license, please read the license included in the distribution.

Status

I've added a new docs page. It contains an overview of the program. English and French versions are available.

21/10/99
FSViewer.app-0.2.3 is out. Check out the download page for the source. Read the README in english or french. Please be aware that there are slight differences between the READMEs. The ChangeLog is also available.

It's been a while. FSViewer v0.2.3 will be along within the next week. I've added a few screenshots to the top of the page. V0.2.4 will be along once I have multiple list selection working. I've got an idea but I need it to grow a little.

31/07/99
FSViewer.app-0.2.2 is out. Check out the download page for the source. Read the README in english or french. Please be aware that there are slight differences between the READMEs. Thanks to Georges Tarbouriech for his work. FSViewer v0.2.2 contains an improved list view, a few plugs for memory leaks and a few patches. For those waiting for multiple selection, ye'all have to wait a bit longer as WINGs does not yet support it. FSViewer v0.3.0 development will begin soon!

01/07/99
  FSViewer.app-0.2.1 is out.

17/05/99
FSViewer.app-0.2.0 is out. If you are upgrading from an older version, the program (chdef) in the defs directory must be run to upgrade the defaults file.
FSViewer has been tested with RH5.2 on Intel with Window Maker v0.53.0. The ChangeLog is available here and so is the README. A french version will be available soon.

The ChangeLog is available here. I've added a link to RPMS of the latest version. Thanks to Ryan Weaver.

23/02/99
Version 0.1.1 is out. It compiles for Window Maker v0.51.0. There may be trouble with compiling the app for older versions of Window Maker.
If you think a mailing list for the app is worthwhile, send me a mail. If you have any suggestions especially with respect to user settings, let me know.

03/02/99
If you had a problem trying to compile FSViewer.app with Window Maker v0.51.0 please download FSViewer.app-0.1.0_51.tar.gz. If you are using v0.20.3 try FSViewer.app-0.1.0_20.tar.gz. These are essentially the same as the file mentioned above but have tweaks to suit the version of WINGs.
