BOOMERANGS

The boomerang is an ancient hunting tool that has been found in many parts of the world. A boomerang has a wing-like shape. The blades are flat on a bottom and curved on the top. Different areas of air pressure are created as the boomerang travels end-over-end through the air. The curved shape plus the spin make the returning boomerang follow a path back to the thrower. The boomerang spins as it travels upward. As it loses energy, the pull of gravity changes the direction of the boomerang and it returns to the thrower.
MAKE A FOUR WINGED BOOMERANG

You need a large cereal box, a marker, and the boomerang template.

Print out the boomerang template and trace it onto an empty cereal box with the marker. Cut out the boomerang. Hold the boomerang by one of the blades. Give it a quick toss and watch it fly. You can change the way it flies by curving the wings slightly.
