Twenty-one U.S. groups have joined together to decry the "curtain of official silence" surrounding the arrests of hundreds of people since September 11. OneWorld Campaigns: The world is not for sale
ATTAC have called for an international trade system based on solidarity, cooperation and fair trade. The World Trade Organisation meeting in Doha, Qatar, is going ahead November 9-13 and concerns are high that in the current world climate some unfavourable decisions will slip through unnoticed. The United Nations Development Programme, in partnership with Cranfield University in the UK, has developed training materials on ways to deal with landmine threats, reports LearningChannel.org.

DebtChannel: African groups ask for debt swaps
African groups have called for a new debt initiative to tackle the continent's crippling debt crisis. Current initiatives such as HIPC have failed sub-Saharan Africa, and now, claim the groups, is the time for creditors to donate debts to non-governmental organisations.
