Drift Scanning Observations from Auckland

Drift scanning is a wonderful way to survey the sky.

Here in Auckland we use it to hunt for asteroids, and to take nice panoramic shots of the southern sky.

This is a raw 10 minute scan across the Tarantula Nebula taken using our 0.5 metre Zeiss Telescope. The Field of view is 9 Arcminutes high.
