| Asian gang targets white youth in 'racist beating' |
A 19-year-old white man has become the latest victim of a series of race attacks in Oldham after being beaten with a broken bottle.
The man was attacked by a group of about 12 Asian males as he walked in the Chadderton area.
The teenager sustained injuries to his back and was taken to hospital.
A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester police says the attack is being treated as racist.
Problems in Oldham, a former mill town, were put under the spotlight when Asian youths claimed they wanted to create "no-go zones" for white people because police had failed to react to attacks on their communities.
Police records show a record number of racist attacks in Oldham, with 60% of victims being white.
A horrific attack on 76-year-old war veteran Walter Chamberlain has resulted in the National Front staging protests in the town despite a three-month ban on political marches.
