SIT DOWN AND BE COUNTED: Participate in the new Member Survey

To help ensure we're providing you with the best possible tools and features at Suite101.com, we periodically conduct surveys of our Members and visitors. The anonymous information that you provide in these surveys helps us make Suite101.com the best publishing community on the Web -- now and in the future.

Therefore, we'd very much appreciate you taking the time the next time you visit Suite101.com to point and click your way through our latest Member & Visitor Survey. It's easy and, of course, it's entirely confidential. So take a moment to sit down and be counted. You can fill out the latest survey by clicking on the link in the Suite Corner on your My Suite page.

SUITE COMMUNITIES: Living Content to Live By

Suite's six communities bring together dozens of your favorite topics in one convenient location. But did you also know that the content of each community is updated weekly?

That's right, every Monday, your Community Managers select a featured article from the weekly crop of new offerings from our Contributing Editors' topics. As well, the Managers put something new "In the Spotlight" -- a featured discussion, an upcoming event, or perhaps a Tip of the Day. Plus, you'll see new items in the community bulletins, calendar, and more!

Even if you don't get a chance to visit on Mondays, make sure you check out your favorite communities as often as you can. Many things in the communities, especially in the Forums, are changing daily. Here at the Suite, we describe this dynamic feature as "living content" -- content created and enhanced by you, for you, the Members of Suite101.com.

So check out your favorite Suite communities today. And, while there, why not subscribe to the community newsletter? That way, you can be alerted to the goings-on of your favorite communities.

HAVE A HANKERING to Introduce your Favorite Book?

You may have noticed that Member Central in the left sidebar of Suite101.com has grown by a few links in the past few months. That's because we're continuing to look for writers and scholars from the Suite community to help North America's largest bookseller, Barnes & Noble, develop their new line of classic books.

Launched on October 18, the World Digital Library from Barnes & Noble Digital will eventually feature thousands of titles in both electronic and paper book format. Many of the titles are classics of the English Language -- from Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility to Charles Darwin's Origin of Species. For several months now, Suite101.com scholars have been writing introductions to many of these titles.

We still need more scholars. In the past few days, we have added over 100 new titles to the list of available titles -- including such literary favorites as Wuthering Heights and the Love Sonnets of Elizabeth Barrett Browning to historical classics such as British Highways and Byways from a Motor Car. So many titles, so many opportunities!

If you have the desire and qualifications, why not apply to become an intro writer? You'll find all the necessary information on the Suite101/Barnes & Noble Intro Writer Application form. If you've visited the application form before, you notice two new features: a complete list of titles that require introductions and a "Refer this title" feature that allows you to notify a friend or colleague, via email, about these opportunities to become a published writer. So if you know someone who you think would be just perfect for introducing Civilization of the Renaissance in Italy or one of over 100 other titles, visit the Suite101/Barnes & Noble
Intro Writer Application Form
and invite away!

SUITE NO LONGER ACCEPTING Applications for Proofreaders

Finally, we recently had to stop accepting applications for proofreaders. To date, over 2,000 qualified candidates have submitted their applications. If the need arises for more proofreaders, we'll let you know. Thanks to all of you who have applied so far.
