Linda's Christmas Bell Potholder and Dishcloth

Dishcloth is shown in photo. Potholder is slightly larger.

Materials:
Aunt Lydia's Denim Yarn in white and red
F hook for dishcloth
H or I hook for potholder

Dishcloth - 1 strand used throughout
Pot holder - 2 strands used throughout

Note: If using another brand of cotton yarn,
use a hook 1 size larger than shown above as
the yarn weight will be different.
Also - potholder is done with 11 rows and
dishcloth is done with 14 rows.

With red ch 10, Join in 1st ch to form ring.

Row 1: Ch 4, 3dc, ch 2, 3dc, ch 1, 1 dc in ring. Turn.

Row 2: Ch 4, Skip ch space, 1 dc in each dc, (dc, ch 2 ,dc) in center ch 1 space, dc in each dc across, ch 1, skip last ch space, dc in 3rd ch of ch 4. Turn.

Row 3: Ch 4, Skip ch space, 1 dc in each dc, (dc, ch 2 ,dc) in center ch 2 space, dc in each dc across, ch 1, skip last ch space, dc in 3rd ch of ch 4. Turn.

Row 4 - 14: Repeat row 3.

Row 15 (or row 11 for potholder): Ch 4, skip ch 1 space, dc in next dc, *ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc. Repeat * to ch 2 space. Ch 5, join by sl st in 1st ch of ch 5, dc in ch 2 space, dc in next dc, repeat * to end of row and fasten off.

Trim and Bell Clapper:

Note: Trim of bell is worked in open ch 4 spaces on sides; and ch 2 spaces on bottom.

Attach white in the top ch 10 ring. Ch 1 and do 9 sc in ring.

In 1st space, do 2 sc, *in next space, (sc, dc, sc). Repeat * to first corner repeating twice in corner. Repeat* to ch 4 loop. Sc in space between dc and ch 4 loop. In loop do 12 dc.(For potholder - do 10 dc) Sc in space between dc and ch 4 loop. Repeat * to corner, repeat twice in corner. Repeat * to top. Sl st in joining ch 1 and end off. Weave in ends.
