Notes

  • Like '...Its Hour Come Round At Last', the episode's title comes from the poem 'The Second Coming', written by W.B. Yeats:

    Turning and turning in the widening gyre
    The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
    Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
    Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
    The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
    The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
    The best lack all convictions, while the worst
    Are full of passionate intensity.

  • 'The Widening Gyre' saw the debut of the new opening theme for the series, including a new voice-over:

    He is the last guardian of a fallen civilisation,
    A Hero from another time,
    Faced with a Universe in chaos,
    Dylan Hunt recruits an unlikely crew and sets out to re-unite the galaxies,
    On the Starship Andromeda, hope lives again.

  • This episode was originally going to be directed by series star Kevin Sorbo. (January 05, 2001 - SlipstreamNews)

  • Keith Hamilton Cobb: "The transition back to production after extended time away is not easy. Especially beginning with the guts and gore in the second half of the first season finale. Jumping directly back into the vats of stage blood and slime, and swimming around in it for a week is not what I became an actor for. It's my job, however, I suppose. Imagine someone dumping a quart of corn syrup on you and making you stand around in it all day. I've earned a lasting respect for pancakes and waffles. It's gross. It's over."
