Reality Check for Mr. Â I.M. Lewis

Yes I would say a reality check might be in order for Mr. Â I.M. Lewis, the so
called "expert of Somali affairs" in international community.
First of
all, Who is he to question the legitimacy of the Somali Interim Government and
the aspiration of the Somali people to conduct their political affairs in
a peaceful manner. What does he share with the Somali people to speak about
their suffering and the lack of government, besides getting paid to enrich
himself by writing about their Anguish.
Contrary to Mr. Lewis, the Arta Peace
initiative, led by IGAD countries opened the door for a real and positive change
in Somalia. As result most the Somalis are grateful and hopeful that
the conclusion of the Arta conference will bring a lasting peace to their
war-ravaged nation. But I would also agree with some versions of Mr. Lewis
analysis of the current affairs in Somalia. For example, it's displeasing and
painfully true that there are still some profound mistrusts among the clans in
Somalia, and some factions are still holding illegally and forcefully
agriculture lands, towns, districts, and
regions in Somalia. But to overcome that bitter legacy and the sorry State of
our union, any fair minded would know that the Transitional Government needs to
be given the chance to re-institute all-important governmental institutions in
order to be effective and sound. Then could we only judge them, if they are up
to the important task of national reconciliation and helping the people to a
national dialog in pursuit of
peace. However, most Somalis today agree to dismantle their differences in a
peaceful matter.
To be crystal-clear Mr. Â I.M. Lewis, it's my honor to reveal to you that the
era of mental subjugation in Africa by intellectual thugs in Europe is over.
What you see today is new bread of Somalis who no longer perceive the former
colonials as the center of moral and political guidance. Secondly, where were
your moral advocacy "experts of Somalia" when the new State of Puntland was
established in 1998. May be you were surprised then, just like the Proclamation
of new the Interim Government in Arta was to the ears of so many
"Somalia experts" in faraway nations.
If I could remember the only Officials
welcoming the new creation of Puntland State then, were IGAD countries heralded
by the governments of Ethiopia and Djibouti, the United States and the Honorable
Mr. David Stephen, the UN Secretary General Special Representative in Somalia.
Finally, Can you explain to the Somalis and International community from where
you receive your source of funding and direction to trash so bluntly the
conclusion and the legacy of the most Successful Somali Peace Conference to
date. No hard feeling for the colonial experts of Somalia, but the fact is the
infant Somali Transitional Government can not offer to buy your expensive public
relation services at moment.
To be able to afford such services in the future, Somalia needs your help now.
