On 1 December 2001 we're introducing new channels and improved packages, making your FOXTEL more flexible than ever before. Now you can add any package to our Basic, without having to subscribe to another package first.
You'll be able to enjoy a world of fun and adventure, with Disney Channel coming to FOXTEL for the first time! Disney Channel becomes part of our Entertainment Plus package, moving TCM from Entertainment Plus into the Movies package.
With the move of TCM, subscribers can enjoy four movie channels as part of the Movies package. However, as movie contracts are in US Dollars, and given the state of the Australian Dollar, your Movies package will cost an extra $2.95 - making it $12.95 a month.
A new charge of $2 a month will appear on your account for your Magazine. As well as extra listings, your FOXTEL magazine will continue to feature the latest FOXTEL news.
If you'd like to change your package or cancel your magazine subscription, please call us on 131 999.
To make room for our new channels and packages, we've had to make changes to some channel numbers. Look out for your new channel number remote control sticker with your December FOXTEL Magazine, or see below for a summary of the changes.
* Channel available only on cable.
^ Channel 44 on satellite.
* Prices vary according to package purchased

Why has FOXTEL increased the price of the Movies package?
The deals we have with the movie channels are in $US and with the current state of the Australian dollar it has become necessary to revise our costs. We are also adding TCM to Movies, so you now get four channels on our Movies package instead of three.
Why do I have to pay for my magazine, isn't it free with FOXTEL's Basic package?
The magazine was previously complimentary for all our subscribers. Unfortunately, it has become extremely costly to produce and given the size of our subscriber base, it has become necessary to charge for the magazine (like Optus and Austar already do). From December, we will be adding listings for Showtime 2, Disney Channel and Sky Racing along with more daily highlights. If you'd like to cancel your magazine subscription, please call us on 131 999.
I signed up on a contract, so why don't I get a price protection guarantee?
FOXTEL offers price protection on the Basic package only, for customers who agree to a fixed term. The Basic package is staying at the same price - the price increase applies only to the Movies package and the magazine. FOXTEL terms and conditions (clause 3.2 of cable terms and conditions and clause 4.2 of satellite terms and conditions) specifically state that subscribers on a fixed term will not be subject to any increase on the Basic subscription fees.
There was a price rise in July 2000, why are you raising the price again?
When FOXTEL changed its prices in July 2000 it was due to the GST, a government charge which we are obliged to pay. This in no way increased FOXTEL's revenue, in fact FOXTEL absorbed a large part of the GST and did not pass on the full 10%. Furthermore, there was no GST passed on through any of the additional packages - it affected Basic only.
With TCM moving, what replaces TCM in Entertainment Plus?
We are pleased to announce Disney Channel will be on Entertainment Plus.
Why have you added Disney Channel to Entertainment Plus, why isn't it part of the basic subscription?
We already have a wide range of family programming in Basic. For those who want more, we have added Disney Channel to Entertainment Plus.
Why can't I choose to subscribe to specific channels?
We're trying to build in greater flexibility and choice. Total a la carte is not currently an option we can introduce given the contractual obligations we have with our channels.
Do you intend to add more channels to the Movies package? Not at this point in time.
Why has TCM moved again? We wanted to create more flexibility for our subscribers and the packages they can choose, in particular to allow subscribers to buy Entertainment Plus straight from Basic. To allow this greater flexibility, we had to move TCM out of Entertainment Plus due to contractual obligations with our channels.
Will TCM's programming format change now it is on Movies? No.
