Summer Sling Tote

Worsted weight yarn. I used a little more than one ball of Aunt Lydias
Denim. You can also use ww cotton (Im not sure of the amount, so Id work
off a cone). Acrylic isnt recommended for this project, but can be used in a
Crochet hook size H
Additional optional materials:
About 1 yd. of cotton lining fabric
Large snap set
Needle and matching thread
Gauge: Not important for this project
Pattern note: The ch 3 at the end of each row counts as the first dc of the
Ch 4; join with a sl st to form ring.
Row 1: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, work 7 more dc in the ring; ch 3, turn.
Row 2: Dc in the first dc, 2 dc in each remaining dc across; ch 3, turn. (16
Row 3: Repeat row 2. (32 dc)
Row 4: Dc in the first dc and in each dc across, 2 dc in the top of the
turning ch; ch 3, turn. (34 dc) (Increase made at each end of the row.)
Row 5: Repeat row 4. (36 dc)
Row 6: Repeat row 2. (72 dc)
Row 7: Repeat row 4. (74 dc)
Row 8: Repeat row 4. (76 dc)
Row 9: Repeat row 4. (78 dc)
Row 10: Repeat row 4. (80 dc)
Row 11: Dc in the first dc (dc in the next dc, 2 dc in the next dc) across, dc
in the turning ch; ch 3, turn. (120 dc)
Row 12: Repeat row 4. (122 dc)
Row 13: Repeat row 4. (124 dc)
Row 14: Repeat row 4. (126 dc)
Row 15: Repeat row 4. (128 dc)
Row 16: Repeat row 4. (130 dc) Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Ch 220; being careful not to twist ch, join with a sl st to the first ch.
Round 1: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, dc in each ch around; join with a sl
st to the top of the beginning ch 3. (220 dc)
Round 2: Repeat round 1.
Note: Using one ball of the Denim, I only had enough yarn to complete
two rows. You may want to just use the two rows, or, if you like, you can
use an additional ball of the Denim to complete all 5 rounds.
Rounds 3-5: Repeat round 1.
Iron each crocheted piece to block. If youd like to line your tote, lay the
crocheted pieces on the fabric, trace around them, add seam allowance and
cut out. Sew the lining together to fit the bag and turn inside out.
Sl st row 16 of one of the bag pieces to 130 stitches of row 5 of the handle,
then continue working sl sts in the remaining 90 handle sts; join with a sl
st to the first sl st; fasten off. Sl st row 16 of the other bag piece to 130
stitches of the free loops of the foundation ch of the handle, then continue
working sl sts in the remaining 90 handle sts; join with a sl st to the first sl
st; fasten off. Weave in ends.
Insert optional lining into bag, and whip st to handle and bag opening. If
desired, sew each half of the snap to the inside of bag, behind the
