MATERIALS REQUIRED: • 3 x 20 grm balls Wendy Minuit Lurex • No. 3.00 (ISR) crochet hook • 3 press studs • 2 glass beads for eyes
TENSION: MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR GAUGE ! 8 sp and 12 rows to 10 cm (3.9 in.) over patt worked on No. 3.00 (ISR) crochet hook. (NOTE: You can use any yarn/thread/hook as long as you crochet to gauge.)
___Back: Using No. 3.00 (ISR) hook make 83 [89; 95] ch.
___Base row: Into 8th ch from hook work 1 tr, * 2 ch, miss 2 ch, 1 tr into next ch, rep from * to end. Turn.
___1st row: 5 ch to count as first tr and 2 ch, 1 tr into next tr, * 2 ch, 1 tr into next tr, rep from * to end, working last tr into 3rd of 7 ch. Turn. 26 [28; 30] sp.
___Rep last row 4 [4; 6] times more, noting that on subsequent rows last tr will be worked into 3rd of 5 turning ch.
___Shape sides: 1st row: 3 ch to count as first tr, 1 tr into first tr, patt to end, working 2 tr into 3rd of 5 ch. Turn.
___2nd row: 3 ch, 1 tr into first tr, 1 tr into next tr, patt to end, working 2 tr into 3rd of 3 ch. Turn.
___3rd row: 3 ch, 1 tr into first tr, 1 tr into each of next 2 tr, patt to last 2 tr, 1 tr into each of next 2 tr, 2 tr into 3rd of 3 ch. Turn.

___Rep last 4 rows twice more. 32 [34; 36] sp. Cont without shaping until 31 [31; 33] rows in all have been worked.
___Next row: 3 ch, * 2 tr into next sp, 1 tr into next tr, rep from * to end. Fasten off.
___Front: Work as given for back until 2 [2; 4] rows have been completed. Commence butterfly patt.
___1st row: Patt 7 [8; 9] sp, 1 ch, 1 tr into next sp, 1 tr into next tr, patt 10 sp, 1 tr into next sp, 1 ch, 1 tr into next tr, patt to end. Turn.
___2nd row: Patt 7 [8; 9] sp, 1 tr into next 1 ch sp. 1 tr into each of next 2 tr (1 block of 4 tr has been worked), patt 4 sp, 1 ch, 1 tr into next sp, 1 tr into next tr, 1 tr into next sp, 1 ch, 1 tr into next tr, patt 4 sp, 1 tr into next tr, 1 tr into next 1 ch sp, 1 tr into next tr, patt to end. Turn.
___3rd row: Patt 6 [7; 8] sp, 2 tr into next sp, 1 tr into each of next 4 tr, patt 4 sp, 1 tr into next 1 ch sp, 1 tr into each of next 3 tr, 1 tr into next 1 ch sp, 1 tr into next tr, patt 4 sp, 1 tr into each of next 3 tr, 2 tr into sp, 1 tr into next tr, patt to end. Turn.
___Cont working butterfly in this way from chart below, at the same time shaping sides as given for back, until 28 rows of patt have been completed.
NOTE: The chart represents a filet crochet grid of blocks, spaces, half blocks and half spaces. Spaces are formed by working single trebles with 2 ch between them and blocks are spaces which have been filled in by working 2 tr into the appropriate 2 ch sp. Here spaces have been subdivided into half block/half space by working 1 tr and 1 ch into a 2 ch sp.
___Patt one more row in sp. Work last row as given for back. Fasten off.
___Straps (make 2): Using No. 3.00 (ISR) hook work 8 ch.
___1st row: Into 4th ch from hook work 1 tr, 1 tr into each ch to end. Turn. 6 tr.
___2nd row: 3 ch to count as first tr, 1 tr into each tr to end. Turn.
___Rep 2nd row until strap measures 35.5 cm (14 in.) from beg, or required length. Fasten off.
TO MAKE UP: Do not press. Join right side seam. Join left side seam to within 7.5 cm (3 in.) of lower edge.
___Edging: Using No. 3.00 (ISR) hook and with WS of work facing, rejoin yarn to first ch at lower edge, 3 ch, * 2 tr into first sp, 1 tr into next tr, rep from * all around lower edge. Turn.
___Next row: 3 ch, * 1 tr into next tr, rep from * to end. Cont working in tr up side of opening working 1 tr into each tr and 2 tr into each sp, turn and work down other side in same way. Fasten off.
___Turn edging to WS on front edge of side opening and sl st into position to form over-flap. Sew press studs along opening. Sew straps in position. Sew on beads for eyes.
