Facts say innocent man convicted of killing priest
James Harry Reyos had an alibi: He was 200 miles away that night in 1981 when the priest was
bludgeoned to death in a motel room in Odessa -- and he could prove it. But the prosecutors had something, too: A drunken confession Reyos made to the Albuquerque, N.M., police nearly a year after the
murder.
Injuries mount at warehouse stores
Three people were killed by falling merchandise in separate incidents at Home Depots in 1999 and 2000. Thousands report injuries by falling merchandise in super warehouses and huge discount-retail stores each year. Critics of the safety record at stores such as Home Depot and Sam's Club say forklifts operating during
business hours and the way goods are stacked pose dangers to an unaware public.
Compaq Center GM, Bobby Knight at odds
Compaq Center's general manager said Sunday that Texas Tech basketball coach Bob Knight used vulgar, threatening
language during a postgame conversation Friday that was prompted by Knight's critical comments about the arena. Knight complained about a lack of towels in the Red Raiders' locker room and
said the locker room first assigned the team "would have been very, very cramped with four midgets."
Galveston set to vote on merger of ports
After 30 years of talking about it, voters on Tuesday will tell city officials whether they approve of merging Galveston's historic port with the giant Port of Houston. On the line, in many voters' minds, is Galveston's long-standing pride of ownership and a slice of the city's sense of independence.
