Jesse Duplantis'
Whopper

I recognize it is a serious thing to charge a fellow "minister" with lying,
but I am given no other choice. Jesse Duplantis is growing ever more popular by the
day, yet he consistently refuses to answer questions about what he teaches or the
statements he makes.
ICCDM contacted his ministry over three months ago concerning a
testimony he made regarding the healing of a woman from cancer on her death bed.
Here is his testimony as found in "Voice of the Covenant," November 1998,
pages 6&7 (I have highlighted some key points):
The Lord spoke to me one time and told me to go a hospital and pray for a woman. I went to her pastor and asked his permission. He said, "I'd love for you to go." . . .The Lord told me, "I'm going to heal that woman." . . .She looked beat up, you know the way cancer just beats you to pieces and then kills you. . .I want to tell you something. The woman's doctor came the next morning, he discharged her from the hospital! Totally healed! She'd miraculously gained 65 pounds! Glory to God!
ICCDM contacted Mr. Duplantis and asked
for some further details about this account, such as:
(1) when did this miracle take place ("one time"
is hardly specific)?
(2) What is the woman's name? ICCDM wants to contact her to share
her wonderful testimony.
(3) What was her attending physician's name? Certainly her
doctor would be more than glad to share such a dramatic case of divine intervention.
(4) What hospital was she a patient of?
(5) What was her pastor's name? Surely, since Jesse was
preaching at his church, he would be more than willing to share some of the details of
this miracle. What was the response of Jesse Duplantis Ministries? SILENCE!
What makes this account very unbelievable is not just the silence on the part of Mr.
Duplantis and the healed woman but these others have been
equally silent about such a TREMENDOUS event:
1) Her doctor(s)
2) The nurses
3) The orderlies
4) The admissions people
5) ALL the people at her church
6) Other people on that floor of the hospital
We live in an age where news events become global in a matter of a few
hours. Yet here is a notable account an NO ONE on
earth wants to share ANY details about it. This is very puzzling
indeed.
I know some may say "Jesse is just being humble,"
if this is the case, then why share it at all? Or "he wants to protect the
woman's privacy," What on earth for? Her desire for
"privacy" deprives the Lord of His rightful praise!
Here we are told a story of a woman on her deathbed.
Jesse, the super anointed evangelist, comes along, prays for her and she is - {a} instantly healed of cancer, {b} discharged
the next day from the hospital, and {c} gains 65
pounds overnight!
If this happened we have a very remarkable miracle indeed! Not
only was a terminally ill patient healed of cancer, but she was given a weight gain of 65
pounds in a matter of hours. Yet Mr. Duplantis is unwilling to share any of
the details of the report he publishes in his internationally read monthly magazine.
Why not?
The reason why is quite simple - Jesse Duplantis is LYING. This event NEVER occurred. He
made it up to attempt to build up himself in the eyes of the gullible. Why
not give us this woman's name, or at least the name of her pastor? Any WOF'er knows
the way you "keep" your healing is by telling what
God did for you to others, and ICCDM is more than willing to post the testimony of her
miracle, if it can be validated.
Why should anyone believe Jesse's story, just because he said it
happened? Especially when he refuses to give any details at all concerning
any verifiable facet of the testimony.
What is unfortunate is that unverifiable stories of this type appear in
almost every charismatic monthly magazine. What is even more unfortunate is that
99.9% of charismatic readers simply accept on face value that
these testimonies are true . . .when they are given absolutely no concrete reason for
their faith in the story-tellers account, other than the fact that the story-teller is a
TBN regular.
Last, but not least what stories, such as this one, prove is
that there is no accountability within the ranks of
charismatic Televangelist. Why is it that other seemingly "sound"
charismatic ministries do not cry out against obvious lies, opulent lifestyles, and
questionable teachings? Could it be, that they are not as "sound" as they
would like the rest of the Church to believe? If you are not part of the solution,
then you are part of the problem. Keeping silent in the face of false doctrine,
false practices, and deceptive testimonies is hardly an indicator of integrity in
ministry.
ICCDM will post whatever the
response is (if any) from Mr. Duplantis when he contacts us regarding this "testimony."
What is outrageous about
this story is that tens of thousands of people reading it will simply accept it on face
value with no more evidence than his "word" on the matter. Some may build
a false hope on such a tall tale, to their spiritual and possibly physical detriment.
Selah. . . .
