Huskers Prepare
For Second Major Scrimmage
LINCOLN,
Neb. ----- The
Nebraska football team worked out for more than two hours
in pads Friday at Memorial Stadium, preparing for the second
major scrimmage of the spring season. Following Saturdays
closed scrimmage, Nebraska will have just three practices
left before the Red-White Spring Game on Saturday, April
20.
Nebraska
head coach Frank Solich said the Huskers had a good practice
Friday. Today was a fairly demanding practice for
them since we have a scrimmage tomorrow, Solich said,
but that was our philosophy going in, that we would
have hard practices. We were going to make sure they got
a number of reps, that they were padded reps so that we
could advance our players as much as possible during these
15 days of spring ball.
Solich
noted that in Saturdays scrimmage he will be looking
for more coordination as a unit on both offense and defense.
We
are just looking for coordination for the offense and defense
in terms of 11 guys doing the right thing and not having
busts. Weve had a lot of good individual effort on
both sides of the ball. We are doing an awful lot, so weve
had some breakdowns, and we need to eliminate some of those
breakdowns. We are looking for a coordinated effort on both
sides of the ball.
Solich
noted that the staff is conducting a coaching clinic this
weekend, with more than 1,100 coaches in attendance. Monte
Kiffin will be the guest speaker at the clinic.
