Donner Memorial State Park
Official Validation: Emigrant Wagon

The Stevens-Townsend-Murphy Party of overland emigrants reached the summit of the Sierra Nevada in November, 1844, opening the first practical wagon route over the mountains to California. In the winter months of 1846-1847, the Donner Party became stranded in the deep shows. A rescue group found many of the ill-fated party in February, 1847.

The park is west of Truckee on I-80. (916) 582-7892
