The American Massage Therapy Association provides information on the therapeutic benefits of massage, and a directory of national certified practitioners. They can be reached at 847-864-0123 in Evanston, IL.
The American Cancer Society does not provide assistance in evaluating alternative therapies for cancer. They can be reached at 800-227-2345.
Michael Lerner's Choices in Healing (Cambridge, MA, MIT Press, 1994), details the innovative approaches to cancer and healing used by the staff at Commonweal.
Opportunities to be a research subject in a center study
Our current clinical trials will be using patient populations from managed care organizations such as Harvard Pilgrim Community Health or hospitals such as the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Children's Hospital. You are welcome to contact these organizations directly for more information.
Referrals to conventional doctors who can advise or provide alternative therapies
You may wish to obtain more information about two programs at Beth Israel Deaconess HealthCare system. The first is the Mind/Body Institute, which is housed on the West Campus of the main hospital.
