Critical Mass Cycling Events in Toronto

The Toronto Critical Mass ride takes place on the last Friday of each month, leaving from the corner of Yonge and Temperance St. between 5:30 and 6pm.

Yes, CM does continue through the winter.

Expect a small but dedicated group of cyclist to mass ride on January 31st, February 28th, March 28th, and April 25th. The summer rides are of course bigger and in Toronto attract several hundred cyclists.

Site Information

Please keep your eye on this page for future announcements. The notice system that was here is temporarily down, I'm upgrading it. It'll be back in a few weeks.

In the meantime, for current event information check out the ARC page (Advocacy for Respect for Cyclists). A much more interactive version of this site will arrive in a month or so.

Critical Mass is a worldwide cycling phenomena. The Toronto incarnation takes place each month on the last Friday of the month. Hundreds of cyclists (well, in the summer hundreds) take to the streets and ride around in a big pack.

There is no official purpose to the ride, but it feels pretty good to be the dominant force on the road for a change.

CM has no organization, officials, or leaders. Technically, we're just a bunch of people riding around together. In practice we block quite a bit of traffic and from time to time cause a bit of a jam.

We pride ourselves on riding around in a slow and peaceful manner, although it might not seem so peaceful to an observer (what with all the car drivers honking and yelling).

Come out for the next CM ride. Come in the winter if you think you're tough enough to face the cold, and definately come for a ride this coming summer.

"We're not blocking traffic, we ARE traffic."
