STUDY GROUPS
Study Group on the Weaponization of Space
Project Directors: Richard L. Garwin and Bruce M. DeBlois
This Study Group brings together a diverse array of expert individuals from the aerospace and policy community for constructive debate about the advantages and disadvantages of weaponizing space. Informed by the Study Group’s debate, Project Directors Richard Garwin and Bruce DeBlois are crafting a balanced policy recommendation for future U.S. space policy, including alternative ways to satisfy U.S. national interests with or without the deployment of weapons in space.
ROUNDTABLES
CFR/Milbank Memorial Fund Roundtable on Health and U.S. Foreign Policy
Project Director: Jordan S. Kassalow
This Roundtable provides a forum to discuss the recommendations proposed in the CFR/Milbank report "Why Health is Important to U.S. Foreign Policy" and to focus on specific global health issues and their impact on U.S. foreign policy. Meetings explore such topics as health and national security, trade disputes and access to drugs, the Russian health crises and regional stability, and the role of U.S. leadership in world health.
Roundtable on the World Summit on Sustainable Development
Project Directors: David G. Victor and Jesse H. Ausubel
This Roundtable engages Council members in issues related to the 2002 Johannesburg Summit to catalyze critical thought and writing about U.S. policy on sustainable development. Central topics on the agenda include the UN preparatory progress, U.S. policy towards the Johannesburg Summit, and sustainability issues for the world’s forests, fisheries, and energy supply.
