Welcome to Grand Island
The heart of Nebraska, the Midwest and the country where residents can find a small-town feel with big-city conveniences
|
Take a virtual tour of the city, its landmarks and attractions
|
The Third City owned a population of about 43,000 at the turn of the century. It continues to expand in area, but more importantly, it continues to expand in opportunity.
Amidst fruitful farm country, Grand Island offers a top-notch education system, excellent medical facilities and extensive shopping opportunities for Central Nebraskans and those well beyond. The city has recreation, entertainment and history aplenty -- from a renowned Great Plains museum to one of the finest water parks in the Midwest.
Grand Island -- three times named an All-American city -- also offers one of the four horse racing meetings in the state and endless opportunities to get in touch with nature and the outdoors. The city is just north of the Platte River, one of the Midwest's longest rivers and rich in historical significance.
There are parks throughout the city -- ranging from the sprawling layouts with biking and hiking trails to the smaller, intimate areas for just taking a break.
We hope this section will help you learn more about Grand Island, its people, their businesses and the events that bring us together.
