THE Q-CARD COLLECTION

Advanced search query syntax and rules

If you know a bit about advanced searching, you will benefit greatly from using the Pandia Q-cards. We have made special pages for some of the major search engines and directories that sum up their features and search syntax. Examples show you how to formulate queries.

If you are a newcomer to advanced searching, take a look at our Goalgetter tutorial. It is short and easy and will give you the basics needed to get the information you need faster and more efficiently.

Note: The Excite search engine stopped functioning in December 2001. The search facilities at Excite.com are no longer powered by this search engine, and the information given on our Excite Q-card is therefore no longer relevant.

The end of Deja.com

Deja.com is no more! The search engine for Usenet newsgroups messages has been taken over by Google, and the syntax presented on our Deja.com Q-card will no longer work. Go to http://groups.google.com/ to visit Goolge's version of the search engine, or use our Google Q-card. Google has made a special guide to seasoned Deja.com users, explaining the transfer from the Deja.com syntax to the Google version.

The end of Infoseek/Go

We have also removed our Infoseek/Go Q-card, as Disney has abandoned this search engine.
