I dont know why I havent reviewed this CD sooner, Its in my cd player
atleast once a day it seems like, but probably it more than that (right now
im listening to it for the 3rd time today).
After this album came out I really sat up and took notice of bleeding
through, and I think most people that have listened to it by now have done
the same. Bleeding Through is extremely technical, all the way around. The
vocals on the album are brutal! I think that Brandan Schepetti may have the
best hardcore voice of any Orange County band curretnly around. Derek
Youngsma is a wizard when it comes to the drums, and possibly the best
drummer in californa hardcore. Combined those aspects together with
amazing guitar work, and dark keyboards and get an amazing result.
Bleeding Through is one of the few metallic hardcore bands around that includes black
metal influances into their music, with a full time keyboard player, and
pull it off well.
Portrait of the godess is a 10 track album, but not all of the 10 songs are
new. Bleeding Through re recorded several songs off of their first release,
and placed them on this album. I have heard alot of people say that they
like the first recordings off "Ill Part II", and "Turns Cold To The Touch",
but personally I like the versions that apear on this album better.
As for the other songs, Its really hard for me to pick a favorite track, i
catch myself singing along to them all. If I had to pick one song out that
showcased the talents of bleeding through I would have to say that track 4,
"just another pretty face" is the one to do that. Singing, screaming, blast
beats, break downs, sing alongs, an organ solo, technical guitar and bass
lines, all in a 3 minute package, and rest of the songs are all equally as good.
Seriously check out Bleeding Through. They have become one of my favorite
bands after this album came out. That should say something all by itself. |
