Oops, I did it again. Of course I was given the wrong name for the other artist in Bergen. It was of course Bergmund Waal Skaslien. Never mind the other person I mentioned, except that he still is an up and coming artist, playing guitar in a couple of bands.

His concert was one of the best I have ever saw. I took my friends' daughter with me and she had a blast. It was her first trip to the symphony and she can't wait to go back!:)

Just some hours after the concert in Bergen, and I still got the good vibes....:-) It just happened to be a legendary meeting between two wonderful artists, Bobby himself and Leif Ove Andsnes. Also, the up and coming artist Mads Berven (aka Bertman, sic?) did a funny guest appearance. What a wonderful idea to ask local musicians to do the improvising stuff together with the master of voice.

I came to your consert in Oslo with no expectations what so ever, didn't even know who was playing since a friend gave me the ticket for free. I it was amazing to see such a talent, and how you had us (the audience) in the palm of your hand in just a few minutes. Funny; you made it seem like the stage was the best place to be in the whole world! :) And while you changed voices and styles like a camelion we sat like puppets; one minute laughing, one minute thoughtfully listening- eyes wide open, feeling a strange sence of togetherness. My best consertexperience ever! I'm rushing out to get your cd at the first possibility.. Yours sincerely Vivian M. Ozalbo (student)

i'm probably not your typical fan, a sixteen year old boy from alabama, but i absolutely love your music. at first i listened casually to pink panther and suzie q, and bought "the voice". now i have gained a totally new respect for your style and talents through circlesongs. i play alto sax for my high school and a handful of us listen to lounge and quasi-avant garde jazz quartets, thinking that wind instruments were in fact the only instruments worth listening to. i must say that you have turned me on to a new style and it does wonders for my spiritual liveliness, kudos.

Hi Bobby, I am here, because I'm just hearing music on the radio: you sing music of Antonio Vivaldi. (Deutschland Radio Berlin) So I start to seek in the internet where can get from these music. Last year I saw a concert on TV. You sang music of Johann Sebastian Bach at the Bach-Festival (I've forgotten the town). It was FANTASTIC! Go on to make music music like this so that we can be part of the feeling you have doing so. Best regards Zwieferl (This is a nickname, it means "little onion" ;-) My real name is Wolfgang

Bobby is at the top of my list of soulful and gifted performers I would love to "experience" live. I view work like his as manifestations of pure joy and spirit. For some reason, I was under the impression he lives in the SanFrancisco Bay area. Now that I live here, I am keeping my ear to the ground for the opportunity to see him live. Looking at the schedule, I'm not too encouraged. I'll just have to keep that vision and send it out there. Bobby, come out for an evening in San Francisco soon!

Now, now, R. Fleming, Bobby tries his darndest to do something worth while even though it is so much hocus pocus. I too am curious whatever happened to that planned opera via San Francisco Opera. It was announced in OPERA NEWS a few years ago, and then just vanished. I guess the SF Opera people realized what crap they too were in for. So I guess that JUST BE HAPPY should be connected up to JUST BE HAPPY AND ACCEPT THIS KAKA LA VACA. Praises Be, MOTHER TERESA

Hello Everyone, A few years ago I attended a concert conducted by Bobby, including, I believe a Mozart piano concerto with perhaps (?) Serkin playing, or Corea (not sure) but at the end of the performance, the first person to yell BRAVO was the conductor, Bobby himself. The members of the orchestra were visibily disgusted with the utter sloppiness of the performance, the amateur if that ability of Mr. McFerrin, the arrogance and vulgarity of the music making. I for one was shocked that such a scam had just taken place, and cannot believe that anyone would stoop to such insignificance. But today, there seems to be no boundaries to Mediocrity, and Bobby certainly gets THAT big Award, for sure. Sincerely, R. Fleming

Well, you've got a lot of fans out there. You are deeply loved. Of course I knew Don't worry be Happy, but I had never really heard your music til I stumbled across a double cd, of you with the Phillmonic Orchestra, and (the other) with Yo-yo Ma in 1997. And to tell you the truth, knowing sweet jack all about you I thought that you were possibly dead, and that was why your music pulled my spirituality (Papataunuku) and strength. I also watched SNL last night, and I was blown away by Bobby's performance of Drive. It stuck in my head so much that I had to find the song and get it on CD. That's when I found myself here checking out the Discography, Biography and the guest book of Bobby McFerrin. I also am an aspiring artist, although my musical style is a bit different from that of Bobby (I produce Techno and Trance music) I still think we share a common ground. I love music, especially the human voice. I would love to remix a dance track of any of Bobby's material someday. Anyway, thatnks for all the wonderful music and keep it up, you're truly an inspiration Bobby!! Everyone should check out my website at: www.angelfire.com/ns/NosFeratu/index.html

First, let me say that your live version of "Drive" at the Eugene Bach Festival last year may well be the most amazing thing I have ever heard in my life. Second, it seems you are not really big on autographs. I don't want to intrude on your "personal space", but it would me a great deal to me if I could somehow get you to autograph my liner notes for Simple Pleasures. I know it has been the object of everything from over-play to retrospective ridicule. I know that it is by no means your greatest work, but it is an important album. Before then, there wer only a handful of profossional a capella groups. Now, there are hundreds, and I'll bet every one would list you as a point of inspiration. You made a cappella marketable. You are my idol. I own several of your albums, but Simple Pleasures is the one I would most like autographed. I have seen you in two concerts and one workshop, but I have never had the opportunity to ask you. If this is at all possible, please email me. Until then, thank you for all your musical innovation, imagination, and inspiration. God bless you.

When I was thinking that music has come to a dead stop I bought one of yours albums (The Voice). I don't know why I bougt it, maybe it was destiny :). During listening "The Voice" my soul left my body and sailed the sky. It was great experience. For thaht time I've bought several CDs with Your's music and I have to admit: Your's compositions are glorious and unusual. Thank You.

Mr. McFerrin I just purchased your latest CD "Beyond Words." What a fitting title. Not only does it describe your incredible talent but also describes my body's response to your voice/music. I am a dancer by birth, however, after having the pleasure of experiencing a true gift (my daughter) I have found myself unable to tap into my body without thought, to move with abandon and allow my body to speak for itself. I never in a million years imagined that I could be so far removed from the world of dance/movement! The moment I heard your voice on the very first track "invocation" I saw movement and colours before me. I wanted to dance right there and then in the middle of Barnes and Noble! I didn't physically (well maybe if you counted my growing smile and slight sway of my torso) but I did dance in my heart. Thank you! I have truly been afraid that I could/would never feel like this again. This is truly an earth shattering moment for me because I have recently made the decision to fulfil my childhood dream to open a School of Dance and to direct a professional dance company. Your voice/music has been an inspiration to me. Thank you for giving me back a gift/a way of life that I thought was lost forever!! If ever you are in the Cayman Islands I would be honoured to have the opportunity to dance to a live performance of "invocation." A huge dream I know, but so was my dream to one day own a school of dance and I thank God that I am in the process of realising it! "Beyond Words" Susan

Thanks for helping me live a musical dream, twice! Once for Ave Maria, to my section I was Ave Maria and it was a joyous and spiritual moment for me and my section. Then again for living a circle song, which is a favorite and a wonderful vocal strech for me. Finally thanks for just being an all around wonderful example of man, creativy, spirituality and musciality. It makes me proud to admire someone so worth the admiration. My family and co-workers love the new CD, your performance and the performance you pulled from your audience will last in my memory. C-

Hi Bobby, I know through my good friend Rhiannon that you will be in Europe this september. I and all the music lovers here are so disappointed that you won't visit Holland with this great voicestra group. I really want to experience your group and many others with me. We are thinking about traveling to one of the countries you visit in Europe. Are the concerts as put on your schedule still on? I hope other Dutch people will join us so we can go with a big group, maybe rent a bus or something. Tomorrow i'm going to buy your new CD. Hope i can get it. I love your music. Keep on singing. I will keep on passing your music in Holland. Lots of warm musical greatings from my heart. Nicoline

I especially loved the Just So Stories collaboration with Jack Nicholson. I would suggest Bobby produce an in concert children's video featuring the basics of singing, making up spontaneous songs, clapping, drumming, etc. Music education for our young is getting harder to come by. Who knows, Bobby could become the "Suzuki" of Singing!

Hello Bobby, I have tried to get you in an entertainmentshow on Dutch television, the Ivo Niehe TV-show. Singers like Mariah Carry and Celine Dion have performed in this show when they were on tour in the Netherlands. Also Prince has been interviewed by Ivo Niehe (in Prince his hotelroom of coarse, sometimes the mountain has to go to Mozes). Rachel van Lingen of the Productie TV Show has actually mailed me back to say they where interested in having you on the show. She even checked out your travelingschedule, but ... you're not coming to the Netherlands this year, are you? Perhaps you can contact Ivo Niehe yourself, when you do visite my country. Or when you are in the neighbourhood, like in Germany? Then mail to publieksservice@tros.nl and ask them for the address of Ivo Niehes TV Show and refer to Rachel van Lingen. Thanks.

Dear Bobby, Thank you for sharing your amazing talent with the world. I am very selective in what I listen to. It is so very hard to find music that is uplifting and fun. Our whole family loves your music (which is saying a lot, I have six other siblings! Even Mom's newest addition (only 3 moz old) loves it. We all have fun and dance even when doing boring chores (like dishes...) I have had a love for your music since I was in kindergarten (I'm nearly 20 :c) ) May God be with you!

Dear Bobby, first things first and the credit where the credit is due: true - you are a musical genius, no two things about it...But: having read the stuff on your site, I have to say I'm dissapointed. I thought you were an intellectual - not only musically speaking, in that sense you most certainly are one - but in other philosophical matters too. I mean, seriously, I have to ask you: man, what's with all this Jesus stuff? One can't help but notice, and it just boggles one's mind to see that all that evangelical ramble is coming from you, of all people - an urban(e), well-educated black man...! You worked with people like Bernstein fer God's sake, and here on this same page you're getting praise by some give-all-your-money-to-god, gun-totin', I-married-my-cousin, let's-keep-our-cities-negro-free, Southern white trash...Shit's wrong, man! I can at least understand that mate of yours, the poor ol' Chick Corea with his Scientology-bullshit - his choices are at least about two important problems - the question of power and the metaphysical and cultural confusion of the Americans with an ethnic background. And, please, do tell sir - how do you, pure on the level of image, combine the afrocentric dreadlock-thing and the bible stuff? I'm sure that the 'good reverend doctors' wouldn't be too happy about it, would they?

Dear Bobby, I have begun reading the book The Life You were Born To Live by Dan Millman. The book encourages the reader to select a mentor to follow. There are many musicians, composers even pop stars that grab my attention but the one who sees music as I do is you. I am far from being a vocalist but I am a flutist and flute instructor. I have a passion for music, period. I teach nearly twenty students to not just learn their instrument but to appreciate a vast array of music styles. I instruct in performance and composition.I hope to have a flute ensemble perform in an upcoming wedding. Although the majority of these kids are under the age of fourteen, I teach them to be professional and people forget that they are children. I started read the book because I feel like I am not making the progress that I should in my chosen musical career. When I decided upon having you as my mentor, I realized that I did not know much about you. I intend to research and listen to more Bobby Mcferrin CDs ( I do own "Hush" ). I hear your mom lives in Fullerton which is near Tustin. Perhaps she could hear my perform some day. Thanks, Mary Titus

My wife and I were blown away by your interview on the Today show yesterday. What a powerful message to our world when a man stands up and claims his trust in Christ in front of the whole world. That's being "Salt & Light" and it's exactly what Christ has called us to be. What a moment it was when your daughter said that her Dad likes to pray and read the bible...that was awesome! Keep up sharing with this world the light of Jesus and let me know if you ever need a believing guitar player :) BTW, we recently had dinner together...well kind of, we were both dining at the Four Season's in NYC. Gotta admit if I had seen the interview prior to I'd probally would have had to interupt your fine meal and shaken your hand. Be Blessed Psalm 33:3

Bobby, you make some of the world's most spiritually alive and relevant music, I believe. By vocalizing the way you do, you manage to combine the resonance of an instrument with the play and warmth of the human voice...of course you know that, but you ought to know that some of us out here understand and appreciate the technical aspects of your worm. More beautiful music...and at a time when the world needs such beauty to oppose the senseless killing and savage apathy. Thank you, thank you--by the way, my kids love your music too.

I am listening to BEYONG WORDS,and I love it,so I would like to dedicate in return to Mr Bobby McFerrin, these little words of mine : "My innocence,ô Lord,is not sham.My soul, pure, and my forehead radiant with pride,I walk through the air as I tread under foot all those poor evil-minded people who bring about traps for others. For you can't get rid of someone who has made his way throuh the light."

Terve Bobby! As hello in Finnish. I want to pass along our love and deepest thanks for sharing your mucical grace and talent with the fans in Pori Jazz festival over the years. I was priviledged to have couple words with you at the backstage last year. Hopefully you will be visiting us soon again solo, with Voicestra or something excitingly new maybe. Beside all the other musical stuff, I like to play with the "self-produced" voices and sounds myself. It is such a wonderful method of therapy for body and soul - beyond words.

I cried when I saw the interview because I was so moved by your heart and spirit. I pray that one day you may have the blessing of meeting Reverend and Mrs. Sun Myung Moon who have spent their lives trying to teach this same message of love in Christ.

Bobby, Just saw you and your children on the Today Show re: Father's Day, and must share a proud father moment in which you played a central part. Several years ago my son and I went to your solo concert in Tampa. You invited singers on-stage, and he went up to sing bass. I was going to let that be his own special experience, but then you asked for more basses! So I went, and purposely stood in the back row. After you scatted with each other section, you actually shared the microphone with my son as you scatted with the basses. Later that night as we went into a restaurant, the music reviewer from the St. Pete Times saw us, said "Hi Paul," then looked at my son and said, "Hey, you were singing with Bobby McFerrin tonight!" A double thrill for him, and for me. Thanks for your great music, and praise God not only for your talent and willingness to share it, but for your statements of faith. You're truly a treasure. This website was a revelation. I've always loved your music, Bobby, but your classical talents were unknown to me. Actually, I visited this site primarily to prove some friends of mine wrong, who were for some reason under the impression that you died last year. I have been listening to "Beyond Words," practically nonstop since I bought it two days ago. Even though it bears similarities to "Circlesongs," "Bang!Zoom," and "Play," it's original in its own right. It's very cool to hear one of the "two little boys" Bobby sang about 14 years ago in "Simple Pleasures" doing mouth percussion with Dad on "Taylor Made." Bobby has influenced me musically since I was a seventh-grader, listening to "DWBH." I learned quickly that any recording with his name on it would become a valuable part of my CD collection because of the quality and the variety of music he has produced. Even now, as a high school band director with a master of music degree, I continue to learn as I listen. Bobby, I praise God for the talent he has given you and for the joy He has allowed you to share with so many of us through music.

Hi Bobby McFerrin! I (16) always liked the sound of the voice. I sing all the time since I was little. Only one or two years ago I saw you on TV when you were in Germany for a Bach day. I was amazed immediately. Soon as I could afford it I bought many CD's from you. What is amazing is, what variety you do. I love to listen to all the different styles of music that you do. You have not only made me happyer, but you also inspired me to start an improvisation choir at school. Last year I directed and lead a group of about 15 students of my age in improvisation. It was amazing how much musicality I could get even out of the people that had nothing to do with music before. Other then in any choir that I sang in before even with much better musicians we never had a problem with pitch or tempo. Everybody enjoyed it and didn't want to stop when I left the school to be an exchange student. Now I try to do that with people as much as possible, too although I don't have a group to do it regularly. I recorded some stuff on my own by improvising part over part. With the tecnology of some friends that works pretty good and I am proud of the results. I try to head for a professionel career in that area. Me, too I know, that this whole long messege might not appear in your guest book, but I hope, that you will read it. love Florian

Bobby performed in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada with the WSO, shortly after "Hush" was released...the presentation was magical. From the moment walked on stage in bare feet (ref. to holy ground), somehow creating harmony within himself, to coaxing the orchestra into "singing" one selection...Bobby left the audience begging for more. I keep my eye on where he is performing...just in case it is close enough to travel to...definitley worth the expense and effort to experience.

Dear Bobby, I'm a public school choir director (Salem, Oregon) and I'm forever grateful for the impact you are making on our children. Although not all of my students will become serious singers/ performers, their love for music has been nurtured & inspired through your talents.... and their passion will last a lifetime. Our world is blessed to have a musician like you who love the Lord, value family & morals, and value music education. It's sad but true, our world lacks positive role models (esp. celebrities) and it's difficult to find quality music that kids can relate to easily. Your music is a goldmine to music teachers like me.I thank God for my job and I thank you for making it so much fun to teach music. Thank you for making a difference, one which improves & enriches our lives!

I met Bobby and his music through one of his former Hard Chorale colleagues, Rhiannon, and I love them both....they have provided creative inspiration and inspiration for living creative expressions in a world which seems to scream at us to perform seemingly more heroic actions than creative expression....Bobby's example of living his daemon is the essence of the heroic.

A Letter to Darren on his beutiful entery, I put it in here course his E-mail don't work couldent get in contact with him: Hallo Darren! What a WONDERFUL entery on Bobbys page. It shure struch me to the heart. I myself am just 17, 18 in 14 days ;o). And disscovered Bobby about 5 years ago. On his song with Chick Corea the version of Spain. Again, a wonderful entery... Im from Norway and go to higschool. And Im going to Oslo and Trondheim to see Bobbys two of four solo concerts in Norway this summer. I met him and ang alittle with him last summer on his vicit on Oslo Jazzfestival. And met him after the concert. It was a blessed time for me. Dont remember much off it, it was such a strong experience! But this year I'll at least get 2 chances to meet him. And I'll personaly delever your entery on his page to him. I don't think he looks on it to often. All his travelin and stuff. Heard his bought a new department in Philladelphia and lives in a closter with munks right now, don't know bout his family.... I think of Bobby as a father to me, as a spiritual leader an singing coach. Been goimg to a femal pedagog for 7 years, she was grown up in the same city as Bobby, Minniapolis, Minnesota(think its so...). Bout your prodject, the ESV... faboulus! I've thought about the same thing myself... People coming, gethering and just make sounds to maybe do a chant. Would be beautiful. I feel that Im releguess but got my debts in God. But anyway there's so much truth in what Bobby do and say. His consert got such a feeling. Its like entering a church so secaret. And ALL people in it are together in spirit. For me that was so beutiful. No racism of gender, sexuallity or anny mather... I want to hug that man! I was born in 84 so I didn't experience Bobby when hi came through. But I and know all there is to know I think... Im also a VERY huge FAN. Love from Norway -Stephan

Bobby, Before my life comes to an end I will sing with you my friend And if my wish does not come true In heaven I will sing with you Bless you, your new album has inspired me to go into the studio and record my first solo album. When it is complete I will send you a copy c/o the Original Artists office, as a gift of respect for all that you have taught me since the summer of 1989. An American piano player here in town saw you in NYC on W72nd at one of your first gigs after the circus tour. He recalls how years later he saw you at an in store apperance and you remembered meeting him at the club. I always dream about meeting you. I have been praying that oneday we will be sing a little melody together, spontaneously. I wish I could be at your concerts in Norway in August. Do you have to sleep alot to remain so in shape or do you feel that your incredible technique allows you to so effortlessly transport us to Nirvana. Has anyone ever left a message in your guest book thanking you for constantly kicking their butt. We all need you to continue on your magical adventure to ensure that we have light to find our way to base camp as you so beautifully sing to us from the Summit. Thank you Bobby, for giving me something to work towards. Thank you for helping me to not be afraid. "Spontaneous Inventions" inspired me to start a choir made from people that just love to sing. We meet every Monday night in a big hall at the local school and we improvise for 90 minutes and then we go home and help all the people around us get through thier week because we all feel so balanced and full of love. "Circle Song" gave birth to a group of proffessional singers here in town and we have started doing workshop at high schools and colleges and we hope to record a CD this summer to sell at our live performances. The group is called "ESV". (ensembleous spontaneous vocalous) Meanwhile,"Beyond Words" is just that, beyond words. You are amazing. I first heard you in 1989. I was in California with my high school big band and I went into Tower Records on my 18th Birthday and I bought "The Voice". Like every singer that heard that record I tried to sing 'I Feel Good' for the rest of the year. Bobby I know this message is long and I am also aware that it may not make it to the guest book on your wonderful new web-site, but, I hope that you get to read it and I pray that you can feel in my words how much joy you have brought me, just by being yourself. My wife often says to me that I should try to get in contact with you because she thinks that I must be your biggest fan. I have tried to explain to her that I am more than just a fan, I am your student. Thank You for your Wisdom. Love, Peace and Harmony Always From, Darren Percival 1.55am Thursday 16th May 2002. Hey Bobby, Dunno if you remember me an' my girlfriend. We went to see you in Montreal 'bout 2 years ago. I was the guy who went backstage to see you and held you back, as you were goin' back onstage. I said how circle songs was my favourite work you'd done. You said ditto. I'm vexed about why people say Cirlce songs is far out. For me it's the complete opposite. It's the roots man. haha. No doubt. I thought it was a great thing for you to return to your vocal "roots". After all the voice IS the first instrument. My other favourites include: -Sweet in the Mornin' (emotionally, a landscape for the deep and annoyingly intense (you know what i mean right? that insane emotion that drives you but consumes you at the same time?) and strange power of music!! -Thinkin' about you're body. Just plain sick!!! -Actually everything on Medicine man (title track----SICK!!!) dunno what moved you to create that album..but it musta been intense. And of course circle songs. Incredible Incredible. Not one falter, not one note outta place. not too many. not too little Anyway, I didn't get to ask you about 1) if you're returning to Montreal to do a bit more singing. (Don't git me wrong. you're conducting....great.) But for me, it's all about your voice!!! hehe. 2) if you are planning on doing any workshops around eastern canada. saaaay Montreal? this is not for me but for my girlfriend. Anyway man, I hope you realise that you got a good thing goin' on. Life is like the grooves of a record man. Big Love A fellow musician "working on the opposite spectrum" I'm a producer.

I've been a big fan since third grade! In music class (my favorite class of the week) we always had a "song of the week", and once, it was Bobby McFerrin's (And Bach's, of course) "Air". I was captivated. We listened to all of his music up until that time, and she explained that he does this all by himself - no intruments - and I was even more amazed! Then she told me a story of a time when she attended a Bobby McFerrin concert with her husband. He happened to be wearing a shirt with coyotes all over it, and Bobby thought it was cool! So my teacher's husband took his shirt off and gave it to him! I just thought that was very cool, and to this day, I have been a devoted fan. Thank you for such inspirational music!

Having listened to your previously released cd such as "don't worry", i have been compelled to give it a follow-up by collecting more of your works.Recently, i just added your latest release "Beyond words" to my collections.Honestly, my comments and feelings toward this new project of yours is "Beyond Words".Firstly, i can sense different ethnic groups from around the world in just one album. That's absolutely amazing. And finally, the caliber and musicability of the folks who participated in the recording is really awesome.Immense kudos to you for a job well done, and always well done.

Hello, I am twenty years old and I live near the top of Washington State. I have either owned or at least heard nearly every album Bobby has released. His latest "Beyod words" is a correlation of them all, and to date is my favorite. It has the lyrical quality of "Circle Songs" and still remains within the boundaries of traditional jazz. It is totally out there yet precise and accurate at the same time. His pairing with Chick Corea is like a match made in heaven and in my opinion Chick offers the perfect ifluence on an album such as this one. If Bobby actually reads this I would just like to thank him for all of the hard work he has done through out his carrer to provide such quality music to the world. Thank you

I am amazed. I have just baught "Beyond Words" and I am speechless. (No pun intended.) I brought it home to listen to, and ended up sitting in the dark for hours doing nothing but listening to this CD. This is the third McFerrin CD I have bought and with each one I am more and more impressed. I have never known an artist to perform so many different genres of music, and I am so happy I have found one. Each CD is different, and some how ten times better then the last. My only fear is that I will run out of space to put CD's in my home. I can hardly wait to buy the next to come. This music fills me with emotion that I did not know I had. No matter what mood I am in, I can put in "Beyond Words" and it hightens that mood to a strength beyond me. I am in awe and I could never thank Bobby McFerrin enough for producing the amazing music that he does.

My thanks and gratitude that the new music was created. I absolutely LOVE it. I like music that has no words so that I don't have to think about it, or follow the story, or even have to pay attention. Thanks for the music. Stephen

Brother Bobby - I tell my wife often that you can say more without words than most of us can say with a lifetime of verbal expression. This new album is yet another blessing in our family (our 9 1/2 month was born to PAPER MUSIC and HUSH) , and we enjoy all of your albums regularly. I don't know you, or much about you for that matter, but through your music you connect with many on a very personal level. As a Christian Pastor, I find myself often lifting praise to the Lord during many of your songs. Thank you for sharing. Thank you for exploring, reaching, diversifying, and being honest with yourself and others. You've taken me places I couldn't have gone otherwise. God Bless, and please, don't stop reaching out/reaching in. :)

I don't see anything closer than Nashville, TN, on your schedule, and I don't know if I can drive that far, but I will try. It would be great if you could come to UNC-Chapel Hill, there's a really good environment for great music. Bring Chick and Yo-Yo Ma with you too! Well, hope you do come back soon. Always Listening.

Dear sir, My name is John Quinlan and I have been listening to you since I was born in '85, you have the most wonderful voice and have taught me a lot. One day I would like to follow in your footsteps and share what ever I can bring to the stage as you did. I am a sophomore in High School and am studying to be a vocal teacher, which has been my dream since I was a little boy. I am going to your concert in Chicago on May 11th and I have front row seats, they are all the way, stage right, I can't wait. I own 13 of your Cd's, I cannot believe how great your voice is. My vocal teacher, Robert Blackwell who studied with your father has been teaching me a lot, in order to get ready to be out in the world of music. A year ago over spring break I fell down a cliff while snow skiing in Canada, I broke my Fimur and had a week worth of surgery to repair it. My mom and my dad were in Cancun and didn't know. My friends had to leave to go home so I spent two weeks in the hospital and all I had that made me comfortable was you'r Cd's. I listend to them all day and all night, I had them playing even when I slept. The nurses were even dancing to your music. You got me threw that whole ordeal and I can't thank you enough. I listen to your cd's everyday and my friends think I am insane, I use your Cd's to get pumped before a concert, or before my basketball games and anytime i need to smile. I practice singing with you'r Cd's all the time. One day I'd like to meet you, but that is a dream of mine. One day I hope to have half as much nolage about music and life as you do. I hope that maybe you have time to right me back but I understand if you can't. Thank you for everything you have done for my life.

Dear Mr. McFerrin I remember being transfixed the first time I saw a performance of "Sweet in the Morning" with your voicestra on television. I have been in love with your work ever since. I missed your one performance in Edmonton, western Canada, and I was heartbroken. Will you ever come our way again? You have more fans than you know... Best wishes, Nyanza Austin

I know that this may never reach Mr. McFerrin, but here it is nevertheless. We came a long way man. From hosting an open mic in 1993 to currently recording our second independant album. I remember looking at your taped performances and wanting to command the stage as you did. We have much to learn and you have so much more to give. In faith, we'll meet some day and lock a door and beatbox and sing and speak and vibe... just five of us... But we have already done that without you knowing. in spirit - the spoken word group known as Second2Last www.second2last.com 'we survive in exact relationship to the dedication of our poets'

A warm Hello to Bobby McFerrin! You have been very inspiring for me in my life as a musician, singer and teacher. I use a lot of your music, when I work with my pupils. So yesterday night, I was quite surprised. I have to admit, that I was even disapointed. After a very short concert, you left the audiance without saying goodbye. How come? So now it´s me to say goodbye and all the best for your future, Rodrigo

I had the privilege of attending your concert with the Gold Company at Western Michigan University last weekend. Words cannot describe the utter joy I experienced during and after that concert. My friend, you should be an ambassador for peace to all of the warring countries. They would hear your celebration of music and immediately put down their weapons! I look forward to seeing you in Chicago again, Mr. McFerrin. I last enjoyed your performance on May 14, 1988, where I dropped a "Respect Our Women" button onstage in Merrillville, Indiana. My son, Isma'il, is a fan of yours since I've been playing your music for him "Baby", "Medicine Man", Don't worry", Simple Pleasures", since before he was born on June 3, 1992. And he is a member of the Chicago Childrens Choir - Beverly. Abraham, Toni, Isma'il, and Baby-Baby-Baby-(Girl-due-in-August) Bolden. Follow the Yellow brick road!

Dear Bobby, I was at Western Michigan University on Saturday to hear you live for the first time. You taught me so much without words... what music really means. You have probably heard thousands if not millions of peoples comments, but you have opened a new door in my life and have helped me come to realize... that music can bring a feeling of Utopia... an absolute inner satisfiable presence of peace. You did that for me. Thank you so much Bobby for what you are about, who you are and what you have done for me. Thanks again, Dan

Thank you for your hard work and the splendid music. Beyond Words is, well, beyond words. And I very much enjoyed the NPR interview, too. Music is the grammar of the other place in us. Keep digging, keep dreaming, keep singing. You are a natural, Mr Mcferrin, more like a Picasso than a Mozart, but certainly an original. Take care. PS When you go to Bodo Norway this summer do not let them make you miss the nearby Lofoten islands. They are perhaps the most beutiful of places in this world. My wife and I will be there later in the month. So sorry to miss your concert in Bodo. Now THAT would be a treat. Cheers, bw

I heard Bobby interviewed on NPR and will procure "Beyond Words" as soon as possible. I've been listening to Bobby since 1986, loving the sound and spirit of the man and the music. I was heartbroken to learn that I'd missed an opportunity to see him in the Boston area in February. The last time he was here, in 1997 for the circlsongs concert, was an incredibly healing and moving experience for me. Since then I've wished that there were some way to gather people in my area, and learn to create the improvised audio tapestries - the human and spiritual grace - I heard at that concert, and in all of Bobby's music.

After a "gasp", I hurried up to the counter to pay for it. I have played it three (okay, maybe four or five times) since. It is beautiful. The last two pieces are exceptional. Hello, my jazz idol. I studied with your friend Perla Warren during my college years, and developed a great appreciation for your talent. Your music has influenced the development of my own jazz/funk band, and I'm eternally grateful for the inspiration. I think you may be encouraged by the younger generations' newfound interest in jazz -- especially if you check out the music of one of my good friends at www.jasonmraz.com. Bobby, we have been fundraising in our school and do not know what to do with the money we made, and we would be honoured if you could perform here for us. Please e-mail me if you're interested. Thanks!

Bobby, you are a great source of inspiration for me and I appreciate your music very much. I loved what you did with Robin Williams for the Beatles tribute, and your live solo album is simply magical. I really hope to see your live show sometime. Please consider coming to Argentina to make a vocal concert. Thank you so much for your music!

Others may think I am weird, but my favorite song by Mac is 'Drive'. It is one of those songs that gives me goose bumps, since it reminds me of how deeply rooted in music I am, from band in school, to exploring new sounds now. Thank you for being who you are in my lifetime Bobby.

I was fortunate enough to be able to see Bobby 3 times in two days! At UVA I was present at the conducting masterclass, the jazz improv., and the solo concert. I am a music major in the performing arts high school Stuart Hall in Staunton, VA. All of my fellow music majors and my chemistry teacher (you and his father are his heros!) were lucky enough to go to the conducting class. I was one of the few lucky ones who were able to stay for the jazz improv. At the jazz improv. when Bobby invited that girl who asked "how can i become one of the people who aren't afraid to get out of their seats and take an oppurtunity". The people in the audience that day saw one of the most spirtual and amazing sights ever. The way that Bobby's friend helped her find the music within and the courage she didn't always have. It brought tears to mine, and my friends eyes. My friend Molly had planned to be a music teacher in the future for some years now. That moment that you were able to create she said was the most defining moment of her life. You are an inspiration to all musicians everywhere. I would like to sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart for your music, and the message that you delivered that day. You are amazing! Thank You. -Amanda

Bobby, I'm absolutely thrilled to learn you'll be in residence here at the University of Virginia in a couple of weeks! I can't wait to hear what you can do with the "wa-hoo" syllables (if you don't already know what a 'wahoo' is, you're about to find out....hee-hee-hee). Welcome to Charlottesville (and be sure to check out the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, if you have time)! -Shannon

I am an Elementary music teacher in a small town in Illinois that is studying you as part of the music curriculum. This is a new unit that the students are enjoying tremendously. We are currently viewing your concert "Spontaneous Inventions" and will be using your performance as a segue into composition involving body percussion. It has been inspiring for them to see someone take chances by improvising and being successful at it. They walk down the halls trying to make instrument sounds with their mouths and beating upon their chests. You are touching all walks of life with the music you create and the imagination/talent you have been blessed with. Thank you for showing my students the endless possiblilities and joy that music can bring to them through appreciation. Also, thank you for opening up a whole new world of potential career choices in performance that they never would have considered as an option before.

Dear Bobby McFerrin, I used to listen to your music when I was just a little kid, I used to listen to the beautiful rythm and the amazing vocals to sweep into the song as to make perfect waves. As a child a partly understood it, but now I am 13, and I still listen to the same beautiful music. It must be as old as I am. I simply love the music you make. One day I want to be at the top just like you. I love how your music sweeps you from a tense mood to a delightful relaxed one. It is so amazingly crisp and clean. It makes me feel as if I am on a beach far south where the waves reach all the way up to my toes on the hot sand. I want to make the same type of music as you, and I salute you for bringing such a wonder into this world for me. Thank you! I appreceate how you have contributed to the world...

Dear Mr. McFerrin. About two weeks ago I got my first CD; "CIRCLESONGS". Almost everyone in my neighbourhood knows who you are because I make them listen to you. Now I am thinking of buying a second disc, hopefully, since where I live there arent good music stores. I have to order overseas and it takes a while till I get them. Take care, and keep on making good music. Alexis Fernandez.

Bobby, thank you for your music. I have been your fan since I was a little girl. I introduced my friends and family to your music, and now it is spreading through my sleeply little town like wild fire. I wish that people in SD would open their ears and listen to the world of music by wonderful musicians, like yourself. Thank you for all the joy and excitement you bring to our lives. You are a gift to us all.
