The Council on Foreign Relations is a national membership organization and think tank dedicated to the belief that U.S. peace and prosperity are firmly linked to that of the world.

Since its founding in 1921, the Council has been a unique gathering place for people with a wide range of political and ideological perspectives, backgrounds, and expertise. The Council's tradition of cultivating an atmosphere of nonpartisan engagement among members, staff, and others interested in international affairs enables it to bring together contending voices for serious and civil debates and discussions.

The Council sponsors studies on international politics, economics, and foreign policy, and publishes the findings; it convenes members to hear international leaders and thinkers; and it publishes the premier journal on international relations, Foreign Affairs.
