EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN

1991-2001: Strategies Against Architecture III (Mute) - by Anthony Cook - published 22/08/2002 Throughout their two-decade-long career I've somehow managed to remain largely ignorant of Einstürzende Neubauten's considerable output. Having first become aware of them in the 1980s through the reverential comments of artists like Nick Cave and Depeche Mode and the film-making of Wim Wenders, I've been familiarised with a few tracks over the years, but on the whole I can honestly say I'm approaching 'Strategies Against Architecture III' from a standpoint of total naiveté.

The Mothman Prophesies

from the spookier than thou dept. - by K of ThirdAngel - published 04/06/2002 Whatever you think this film is likely to be, you're probably wrong. It's been a long, long time since Richard Gere last did anything good, but this one is really nice. It's not a monster film - you never directly see the Mothman. It's as inconclusive as an episode of the X-Files, and as spooky as Ring. Possibly even spookier.

'The Music of Razors' Cameron Rogers

Penguin 2001 - by K of Third Angel - published 05/12/2001 It's rare for me to genuinely like a fantasy novel. They seem, on the whole, too formulaic - their characters too shallow, their outcomes too certain, their prose too awkwardly ornate. This one is different.
