ARCHITECTURE

Architecture is the term used to describe building styles. Over time, popular architectural styles have changed. When Franklin built his "good house" in Philadelphia during the 1760s, most Americans' favorite style was Georgian (jor-jan) architecture. The Georgian style began in England about 1710, but American colonists who came from England were influenced by the buildings there and began to construct Georgian buildings in America.
