McDATA's New 140 Port Director

BROOMFIELD, Colo. - October 1, 2002 - McDATA Corporation today announced the worldwide availability of its Intrepid™ 6000 Series 140-port Director, the industry standard for building the world's largest, most scalable and reliable enterprise storage networks.

The Intrepid 6140 provides anywhere from 64 to 140 ports in four-port increments, in a compact, 12U package. The Intrepid 6140 is complementary to McDATA's widely deployed 64-port Intrepid 6064, providing Director-class connectivity attributes to larger SANs and mainframe FICON deployments requiring hundreds or even thousands of ports. The customer-driven, common architecture of the Intrepid 6140 is completely backwards compatible with McDATA's entire core-to-edge SAN product family. McDATA's Intrepid 6140 and 6064 Directors ensure the highest levels of availability on the market, exceeding 99.999% uptime or less than 5 minutes of downtime per year. ...McDATA profile

I-TECH Announces the Release of 3010 and 3020 SANmark™ Test Suites

Eden Prairie, MN - September 24, 2002 - I-TECH announced today the release of the 3010 and 3020 SANmark Test Suites which have been qualified under the FCIA's SANmark Qualification Program.

These new test suites relate specifically to switch developers. The 3010 Test Suite tests the operation of the fabric with respect to registered state change notifications (RSCNs). The 3020 Test Suite tests zoning to verify that a device will be visible and able to locate other devices on the name server when the devices are in the same zone and that they will not be visible if they are not in the same zone. It also verifies that the correct frames are exchanged on interswitch links (ISLs) when zones are configured, changed, or deleted. ...FCIA profile, ...I-TECH profile

Who's #1 in the Fibre Channel Director Market?

A press release from McDATA, in May 2002 cited market research from IDC's report "2002 Worldwide Fibre Channel Hub and Switch Market Forecast and Analysis, 2000-2006" IDC reported that McDATA remained the leading supplier of Fibre Channel Director revenue and ports in 2001 shipping 91% of the Fibre Channel Director ports in 2001. The data also shows that shipments of Director-class ports grew more than 90% in 2001, faster than any other segment of the entire Fibre Channel hub and switch market. Also shown in IDC's preliminary data, McDATA accounted for more than 7% of the loop and fabric switch market segment. This came after having only shipped those products for seven months in 2001.
