AACTE - The American Association of Colleges for Teacher Educaction - AACTE is a national, voluntary association of colleges and universities with undergraduate or graduate programs that prepare professional educators.

AFT - The American Federation of Teachers - represents over one million teachers, school support staff, higher education faculty and staff, health care professionals, and state and municipal employees.

New Teacher Page - is a resource site for education students, student teachers, first-year teachers, teacher certification candidates, and those who think they would like to be an educator.

Survey & Analysis of Teacher Salary Trends 1999 - provides state-by-state salary comparisons, beginning teacher salaries, and salary data for school districts in the nation's 100 largest cities.

Certification/Licensure Resources

ERIC Digest 97-6: I Already Have a Bachelor's Degree. How Can I Obtain a Teaching License?

State Education Agencies - this site provides direct links to individual state department of education (SDE) websites including the District of Columbia, and the Department of Defense Schools. Most SDE sites contain information on requirements for teacher licensing, certification, and testing requirements.

50 States' Certification Requirements - An ongoing project to collect the teacher certification requirements for all 50 states.

Job Sites

Academic Employment Network- provides opportunities for teachers and administrators at all institutional levels to place ads and connect with one another about job openings. Viewing job openings is free but their is a small fee to post your resume.

Education World's Employment Center- listings of current job openings within the education market and a resume bank of over 1,000 educator resumes.

JobsinSchools.com- using a variety of services, candidates can first identify and screen schools and school systems in geographic areas where they want to work. Then they can evaluate schools and districts to determine where they have the best fit and want to apply.

National Association of Independent Schools Career Center- has dozens of resources for job hunting and career development. There is a new “Job Openings” section to view positions currently available at independent schools.

National Teacher Recruitment Clearinghouse - offers practical solutions for recruiters, teachers seeking jobs, prospective teachers, and school districts looking to reatin teachers.

Recruiting New Teachers, Inc.- is a national non-profit organization which was formed in 1986 to raise esteem for teaching, expand the pool of prospective teachers, and improve the nation's teacher recruitment and development policies and practices. Visit this site if you are interested in knowing more about what it takes to teach.

SchoolSpring.com- This is a free service for educators- search for jobs, post your resume, and sign up for job alerts via email. A SuperSearch feature finds thousands of jobs from dozens of education job sites

Teacher Referral for Defense Employees (Troops to Teachers)- this site provides Referral Assistance and Placement services to service members and civilian employees of Department of Defense who are interested in beginning a second career in public education as teacher or teacher's aides.

Teachers-Teachers.com: The Internet's Premier Academic Placement Service - this free service helps teachers find teaching jobs. By using this website, teachers can easily distribute their resume and cover letter to hundreds of schools nationwide.

Teach for America - places recent college graduates and others with baccalaureate degrees in 2-year positions in urban and rural public schools. Special effort is made to recruit people of color and prospective teachers in bilingual education, science, or mathematics.
