John Borland is said to have been born in Pennsylvania. He migrated
to North Carolina in the mid-1700's in what was known as Orange County.
As the counties became divided into smaller counties and new land was open
up for settlement, his descendants moved further and further west. Then,
his descendent, Harvey Weldon Borland came to Rockingham County, North
Carolina. My great-aunt Alice Borland Smith told me he came to Rockingham
County from Caswell County with nothing but the family bible and the shirt
on his back. Great-grandpa Harvey was a farmer. He married Mary Jane "Jenney"
Talley who was descended from Allen Talley and the Lemon Families. Thus
began the Borland's of Rockingham County. These pages are done as correctly
as I could get them. I don't have death dates and birth dates for a lot
of our relatives. And, some I didn't even know their names until recent
years. I hope you will forgive any errors you may see.
