Welcome to The Blackstripe
During June (designated as gay
pride month), author John R. Keene spent the month engaged in one of
his favorite activities, watching sports. He takes a look here at the
delights and pains of being an SGL Sports Fan. Author Randy Boyd, also
an avid sports fan offers us an excerpt from his latest book, The
Devil Inside, described as A wild ride into the thicket of
political issues and psychological thrills.
Previous book excerpts are still available in the Blackstripe's excerpt section.

The recent flap surrounding
the possible homosexuality of a New York-based major league player has
shown once again that ignorance is boundless. Before the gay-rumored NY
Mets catcher Mike Piazza could publicly affirm his heterosexuality,
sports commentators and many athletes rushed to deny both the possibility
of more than a few homosexual male pro athletes and decry their coming
out as destructive to team cohesion, morally reprehensible, and an offense
to privacy, etc. more

Homegirl wouldn't know how to creep on you
if she read a gay boy's guide to tricking. Kordell got a kick out
of Sal using the lingo some of her teenage nieces and nephews learned
at school. In truth, Salina Del Rio was from a middle-class Latino family
and received her BA at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo the same day as Kordell.
They had been best friends since sophomore year, the year they both worked
in financial aid and were the only two students in an office made up of
middle-aged women. Midway through sec-ond semester, Kordell and Sal were
having lunch at Burger King when Sal opened up about her newfound lust
for one of their co-workers, Jenna, who was black, fifteen years older,
and straight, as far as Sal knew. Sal was the first person to ever come
out to Kordell. A half hour later, after working up enough nerve, Kordell
returned the favor: Sal became the first person Kordell ever came out
to. Over a decade later, their friendship was still going strong, like
that bunny in the battery commercials. And after a few soap opera-like
detours, including Jenna's divorce from her husband, Sal and Jenna were
partnersin life and at the women's health clinic they ran together. book excerpt ...

Donnie says that he was not
born a homosexual. He says his homosexuality was caused by his traumas.
This may be so. It is also true that millions of girls and boys who are
homosexually raped as children never become homosexuals. It is also true
that millions of homosexuals are born gay. Millions of homosexuals are
like myself. I was blessed with an idyllic childhood. I was extremely
sheltered and never sexually molested by anyone. Yet, I am and I have
always been a lesbian. Why is Donnie unable to separate his own tragic
experiences from droves of homosexuals who have never experienced anything
nearly as tragic as his miserable and pathetic life? more ...
