Tools
of the Trade
A
large part of the work the producers and researchers do here
at CBC News: Disclosure centres on digging up information
for our stories. To
do our jobs well, we need to know how to effectively and
efficiently use the Internet, newspapers, libraries and
other sources. We also have to critically evaluate all of
the information we uncover.
The
following is a list of tools for the investigative journalist,
complied by CBC producer Daniel Schwartz. Schwartz also
teaches a course on "computer-assisted reporting"
at Ryerson Polytechnic University in Toronto.
